"In Eva's mysterious world of images, everything is fickle— trees move abroad, dogs take on disproportionate proportions, objects suddenly return after mysteriously disappearing... She uses pulsating brushes and unbridled colors to create an ambiguous dialogue between text and images. In Eva's writing, the boundaries between children and adults are fluid, adults appear cold and serious, wild and humorous, and they are always wrestling with the eternal question of who are we? Where are we going? And, who took our 'hats'? The Lindgren Prize jury commented on Eva's work.

Eva Lindeström was born in 1952 in the eastern Swedish city of Västerås. From the 1980s onwards, she began creating comics for various magazines and publishing picture books. The themes of her stories mostly involve the vacillation between daily life and existence, and she is good at capturing the suspenseful moments that occur between children's daily play from the child's experience and perspective, and the story is strange and full of originality. In her view, there is no clear distinction between children and adults, and even between people and animals. Eva has published about 35 picture books to date, and in 2021's latest work, Ingenting r om jligt f r oss, readers can follow two small children and their dogs down to another planet.

According to the organizing committee, including Eva, a total of 282 candidates from 71 countries have been nominated this year. It is worth noting that in the list released in October 2021, children's literature writer Gezhilqimuge Black Crane from China and the children's reading promotion public welfare organization "Bearer Action" were nominated by the Shenzhen Aiyue Charity Foundation.

Named after the famous children's literature writer Astrid Lindgren, the Lindgren Prize was established by the Swedish government in 2002. The prize recognizes one or more writers or illustrators each year and multiple institutions around the world, in order to promote the global dissemination of children's literature and stimulate children's and young people's interest in reading literary works. The winner will receive a prize of SEK 5 million (about 3.7 million yuan), making it one of the highest prizes in the field of children's literature.

The jury of the prize is composed of 12 expert members, including writers, illustrators, literary scholars, librarians, critics and children's rights experts. In addition, there is a member representing the family of Astrid Lindgren. Each year, the jury evaluates the hundreds of nominations received from major nominating bodies, which are required to have a good understanding of writers, illustrators, oral storytellers and reading promoters in their countries. The jury may also nominate candidates, but will not accept self-nominations from any group or individual. The members of the jury meet 8 times a year to discuss and exchange views. During this time, they need to read a large number of books and consult relevant expert opinions and other reference materials.
