However, with the maturity of charge pump circuit technology in the past two years, various manufacturers are also quickly following up on flash charging technology, such as Xiaomi and Vivo can use 120W flash charging for commercial products.
At this year's MWC, Realme officially released 150W flash charging technology, and less than a month later, this new set of charging technology officially landed on the realme GT NEO 3. Although it is not realme's flagship model, it is enough to let us explore the secret of the 150W flash charge.
As a mid-range product of realme, the GT Neo 3 debuted 150W flash charging technology, which is not surprising at all. Previously, realme also had a special case of using new technologies first in mid-range products.
In the realme's product system, realme GT NEO 3 is a product for the young market, the game scene accounted for a large proportion of the user group to create a product, it has a "track double stripe" design, which has been digging deep into the young user market realme, such a stylish design, in the past few years there are many products impressive.
The blue version of the realme GT NEO 3 official name "Le Mans", in addition to the white and black versions, named "Silverstone" and "Wild Black" respectively, all point to the field of racing, realme also hopes to use such publicity means to express that this NEO 3 has faster charging speed and machine performance.
The 8.2mm body thickness and 188 grams of fuselage weight possessed by the phone itself are at a normal level among competitors in the same class, and under the normal holding posture, the weight balance at the top and bottom of the phone is quite good, and there will be no obvious forward leaning.
Since it is the first 150W smart flash charging technology, let's first see how fast the charging speed of this mobile phone is.
Before measuring the speed, let's take a look at what kind of charging system this realme GT NEO 3 comes with. The first is the battery, which has a dual-cell battery module, two 2250mAh batteries equivalent to 4500mAh, which is a common battery design scheme on some mobile phones before realme.
In terms of charging circuit, the button to find the official statement given by realme, this set of 150W flash charging circuit, first has a separate customized flash charging chip to control the entire charge pump circuit; the charging line, the use of dual charge pump parallel, in the charging circuit shunt resistance reduction, improve the conversion efficiency of the charge pump; finally this mobile phone also uses Battery Sense battery voltage detection technology, will more accurately control the charging power.
In the actual charging link, the realme GT NEO 3 comes with a charger that can provide up to 20V/8A output, but in fact, this phone supports the maximum 20V/7.5A charging standard, and the extra 0.5A from the charger end is to ensure that there is enough current to make the Neo 3 charge full load.
After the external current enters the charging circuit inside the mobile phone, the current will be divided into two 20V/3.75A parallel circuits, through the charge pump buck boost to 10V/7.5A dual parallel circuit, at the end of the circuit the two currents are combined into one, forming a 10V/15A current into the battery, thereby achieving 150W charging power.
In the actual charging test, the voltage and current curve is recorded by Power-Z, as can be seen from the figure, in the entire charging process, the voltage has been stable between 17.5-18V, but the current fluctuation is relatively large, the highest can achieve a current of 7.5A, with the voltage of 17.5V at that time, Neo 3 is charged at 130W, this number and the nominal 150W although there is a gap, but it is also relatively close.
However, the 130W power lasted only about 2 minutes, and the current dropped. The second stage of 17.5V6A also lasted only about 2 minutes, and then dropped to the level of 4A. In the first five minutes, the phone's battery charge increased from 1% to 39%, which is very fast. However, after the charging power went down, it stabilized at 17.5-18V/3A, and the trickle charge after the last 92% of the current dropped linearly from 3A to 1A.
The entire charging time is 20 minutes, the first 5 minutes of the phone charging speed is very fast, and then the current will be gradually reduced with the increase in power, the trickle stage has about 7 minutes of time, the current returns to zero.
In addition to the new charging system, the realme GT NEO 3 has another highlight in terms of performance - this phone is equipped with MediaTek's latest Tianji 8100 processor.
This is a chip using TSMC's 5nm process, which has an eight-core CPU architecture, including four 2.85GHz Cortex-A78 cores and four Cortex-A55 energy-efficient cores, and the GPU is equipped with a six-core Arm Mali-G610.

This year,s Tianji's two chips, including the higher-level Tianji 9000 and this Tianji 8100, have more advantages over Snapdragon in terms of energy efficiency. From the actual game performance, in the case of King of Glory 60 frames (GT NEO 3 only supports up to 60 frames, the experience of 90 frames can be obtained through interpolation, but the test software cannot record), the average frame rate is 59.8 frames, and the entire frame rate curve is quite stable.
But what's even more perverted is that over the course of a 13-minute game, the average power consumption of this phone is only 2.08W! This is a value that is almost impossible to achieve for mobile phones equipped with chips like Snapdragon 8 this year. (Because the phone uses dual batteries, PerfDog's measured data requires x2)
In the original god test, a mid-range chip can make a hardware killer game run full 60 frames, which is really rare in Android phones, but this year's Tianji 9000 and Tianji 8100 do have this ability.

From the actual performance point of view, in the 30-minute original god (50% screen brightness + Bluetooth headset + WiFi network) high-quality 60 frames test, the realme GT NEO 3 finally recorded a score of 57.6 frames, in the first half of the game almost maintained a full 60 frames to run, the second half of the phone because of the heat, the frame rate jumped to a certain extent.
In the power part, during the 30-minute game, the average power consumption of the realme GT NEO 3 is only 5W, which is almost the same as the Level of Tianji 9000 carried by the OPPO Find X5 Pro Tianji Edition before I tested it, and this performance is 8W ahead of the Snapdragon 8.
From the simple test, we can see that this year's Tianji 8100 chip, although it did not use the design of such a super core as X2, but because of its ability to use, excellent power consumption, it has also become a pretty good chip, which not only makes this year's Tianji 9000 a little shameful, but also hits this year's Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 heavy face.
