Breaking news: Ubisoft's "XDefiant" canceled the release of the "Tom Clancy" IP at the end of the year

Ubisoft's XDefiant has changed significantly since it was first released in August 2021, most notably abandoning the Tom Clancy IP. The development of the game was handed over to the Ubisoft San Francisco studio, and the release date is unknown.

XDefiant is the third free-to-play FPS game Ubisoft is developing, and this game is currently in beta. It was led by former Call of Duty executive producer Mark Rubin and developed in collaboration with several Call of Duty content creators.

XDefiant seems like it will take a while to release. While Ubisoft hasn't announced an official release date yet, industry insider Tom Henderson expects the game to not be released until late 2022, possibly early 2023.
