Recently, Qualcomm announced a $100 million investment in the establishment of a Snapdragon Meta-Universe Fund, which is aimed at AR, VR and AI studios engaged in games, health, media, entertainment education and enterprise markets. Qualcomm pointed out that the fund is in line with Qualcomm's existing series of industry-leading initiatives and jointly promotes the development of the XR ecosystem, including the Snapdragon XR platform, Snapdragon Spaces XR developer platform, and the European XR Lab.
It is reported that the Snapdragon Meta Universe Fund will be used to invest in developers and enterprises that create a unique immersive XR experience and related core AR and AI technologies, and the fund will be distributed in two parts: venture capital and grants in the future.
Among them, the fund will invest in leading XR companies through Qualcomm Ventures, as well as through Qualcomm Technologies' funding projects to fund developer ecosystems that enrich XR experiences, including games, health, media, entertainment, education, and enterprise applications. In addition, fund applicants will have early access to new hardware, services and marketing, and applications for consideration will open in June.

It is understood that Qualcomm has invested a lot in the VR and AR fields in recent years, and the XR2 chip previously launched is used for the vast number of headset devices such as Quest 2. Not long ago, Qualcomm announced a cooperation with ByteDance to develop new devices. Recently, Qualcomm also announced a partnership with well-known game manufacturer Square Enix to jointly develop the AR toolkit Snapdragon Spaces.
