Covid-19 vaccines enhance immunization and knowledge of older adult vaccination

1. What is enhanced immunization?

The immunity generated by the recipient after vaccination can be maintained for a period of time, but over time, the level of antibodies produced by the vaccine decreases, the immunity decreases or even disappears, and it must be revaccinated at the right time to maintain and improve effective immunity.

Why is there a need to strengthen immunization?

At present, the global covid-19 epidemic situation is still grim, and the recent outbreak of epidemics in the mainland has occurred frequently, and the situation of prevention and control is complex and severe. According to the results of domestic and foreign studies, after the completion of the full vaccination of the new crown virus vaccine, it has a significant effect in preventing severe diseases and reducing death. However, with the extension of the vaccination time, the antibody level of some recipients decreased, and their immunity to the new crown virus declined. Related clinical trials have shown that strengthening immunity can not only increase the number of neutralizing antibodies exponentially, but also produce stronger antibody staying power, while strengthening immunity can effectively cope with more types of virus strains, which also means that strengthening immunity will have a better protective effect on the mutant strains of the virus. Therefore, we recommend that people who are eligible for booster immunization receive booster injections as early as possible.

3. What is homologous booster immunization?

Homologous booster immunization is booster immunization using the same vaccine as basic immunization.

4. What is sequential immunization enhancement?

Sequential booster immunization is the use of vaccines that are different from basic immunization.

V. How to choose the type of vaccine to boost immunization?

With the approval of the joint prevention and control mechanism of the State Council, the enhanced immunization of the new crown virus vaccine can be homologous enhanced immunization, or it can be sequentially enhanced immunization, and only one of the two can be selected.

(1) Homologous enhancement of immunization

Complete the inactivated vaccines produced by Sinopharm Zhongsheng Beijing Company (including the packaging and packaging enterprises entrusted by the State Drug Administration), Sinopharm Zhongsheng Wuhan Company, Beijing Kexing Zhongwei Company, Shenzhen Kangtai Company, and the Institute of Biology of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, as well as the adenovirus vector vaccine produced by Tianjin Kangxino Company for people aged 18 and above who have been vaccinated for 6 months, can implement 1 dose of homologous enhanced immunization, and the selection principle of vaccine type is:

1. Inactivated vaccine

(1) People who have completed the inactivated vaccine full vaccination produced by Sinopharm Zhongsheng Beijing Company, Sinopharm Zhongsheng Wuhan Company, and Beijing Kexing Zhongwei Company can use the same vaccine for 1 dose of enhanced immunization.

(2) People who have completed the full vaccination of inactivated vaccines produced by Shenzhen Kangtai Company and the Institute of Biology of the Academy of Medical Sciences will, in principle, continue to use the original vaccine for 1 dose of enhanced immunization.

2. Adenovirus vector vaccine

People who have completed the full course of adenovirus vector vaccination continue to use the original vaccine for 1 dose of booster immunization.

(2) Sequential strengthening of immunization

People aged 18 and above who have completed the inactivated vaccine produced by Sinopharm Zhongsheng Beijing Company, Sinopharm Zhongsheng Wuhan Company and Beijing Kexing Zhongwei Company for 6 months can implement 1 dose of sequential enhanced immunization, using the recombinant protein vaccine of Anhui Zhifeilong Kema Company or the adenovirus vector vaccine of Tianjin CanSino Company.

Sixth, why advocate the elderly, especially the elderly

Timely vaccination of the elderly against COVID-19?

The elderly, especially those with underlying medical conditions, are at high risk for COVID-19 and are at very high risk of severe illness. Data provided by the joint prevention and control mechanism of the State Council on March 15, 2022, show that about 65% of the severely ill patients in the mainland are the elderly over the age of 60, 80% of the elderly over the age of 60 have underlying diseases, and 65% of the elderly with severe classification are not vaccinated. The new crown virus vaccine has a good effect in preventing severe illness and death, especially the elderly and people with underlying diseases, who are prone to severe illness, critical illness and even death after infection with the new crown virus, and such people have the greatest benefit from vaccination. Therefore, we advocate that the elderly, especially the elderly, should be vaccinated against the new crown virus in a timely manner.

What are the elderly with chronic underlying diseases?

Can I get the CORONAVIRUS vaccine?

Elderly people with chronic diseases who are in stable health and have good drug control can be vaccinated against covid-19. Vaccination strategies in many countries, as well as the World Health Organization, recommend that older people, especially those with chronic underlying medical conditions, should be the top priority for vaccination. If the elderly cannot determine whether they are in the stable period, they can go to the hospital in advance for an examination, consult a clinician, or bring relevant medical records to the vaccination site for judgment by the on-site doctor. Remember to tell your doctor the truth about your health.

8. Currently vaccinated against the new crown virus

What is the priority?

Currently, covid-19 vaccination priorities are:

1. People who are eligible but have not yet been vaccinated should be vaccinated as soon as possible.

2. People who have not completed the whole process of vaccination should make up for the unplanned doses as soon as possible.

3. People who have not yet received a reinforcing injection at the specified time interval should carry out intensive vaccination as soon as possible.

4. Promote vaccination of the elderly, especially those over 80 years old.
