Yangtze River Daily Wuhan client, March 18 (reporter Wan Jianhui) The TV series "The World of Man" has been broadcast on CCTV, and the response caused by the drama is still continuing. Liang Xiaosheng, the author of the original novel of the play and the winner of the Mao Dun Literature Award, recently released a new work "Small People Walk through the Big Times". In this collection of essays, Liang Xiaosheng wrote about many ordinary people, writing about their joys and sorrows, persistence and helplessness, and writing a "historical record" of the intersection of the reality of the big era and the fate of small people.

On the afternoon of March 18, Zhang Xinyu, the responsible editor of the book and the Oriental Publishing Center of China Publishing Group, told the Yangtze River Daily reporter that "Little People Walk Through the Big Times" collected 30 essays created by Liang Xiaosheng in recent years, continuing to write about all sentient beings in our time. Among them are the author's own brother who is suffering from illness, the co-workers who have been friends with the author's hardships, the migrant workers who are running for their livelihood in the city, the little girl who scavenged for waste, the thrifty, industrious and kind mother of friends, the intellectual father who lost his beloved daughter, the miner who ran away from home on the train, the old tea farmer and his daughter, the peasant woman who was cheated on stock trading, the woman who watched the bicycle, the female owner who fell in love with her own hired worker, the "two-person turn" actor, the carpenter, the glassmaker, the gallery owner, the black car driver...

In a letter to the editors of the Oriental Publishing Center last October, Liang Xiaosheng said: "After 2000, my prose collections were basically selected and edited by young editors, and the titles of the books were also determined by them. At this moment, I seriously recall that I can't remember which collection of essays I chose and compiled myself, and the title of the book was given by me. It's not that I'm too lazy, but I feel more and more that their selection is always more ideal than my own, and the titles they determine are better than my own—frankly, I can't think of them myself, such as "Little People Walk Through Big Times" I can't think of myself. If you can't think of such a novel title, you can't choose the content corresponding to the title. ”

Liang Xiaosheng also mentioned in his letter the original intention of publishing this collection of essays: "My prose naturally has many chapters that write about my own emotions, feelings, feelings, moods and emotions, but more are written about others - those who are ordinary and attract my attention. If my pen can present the bittersweet, hard work and pursuit, glory and longing in their lives, it will be my comfort, my glory. ”

The book begins with "Brother" about Liang Xiaosheng's brother, who suffered from mental illness, spent more than forty years in a psychiatric hospital. Liang Xiaosheng recalled that before his brother fell ill, as a small partner, he braved the heavy rain to go out to buy cakes for him, and also confessed that he had resented his brother in his heart because of the illness dragging down his relatives, but now that he saw that his brother's health was not good, Liang Xiaosheng only hoped that he and his brother could live for ten more years, so that he used his retirement time to let his brother who was over seventy years old leave the hospital and live freely for ten years. In a letter to the editors of the Oriental Publishing Center, Liang Xiaosheng, 73, mentioned: "I hope my pen can write for them for a few more years." ”

In the afterword to the book, when talking about the function of literature on reality, Liang Xiaosheng believes that literature should have the power to attract people to goodness, and creators should present the "temperature of human nature". He spoke up for those familiar and humble little people, comforted the damaged crowd with warmth, and poured out his humanistic care for the people at the bottom. He did not stand on the commanding heights of morality, deliberately exposing and accusing the inferiority of the little people, but more from the standpoint of the common people, describing the life of the little people, the cold and warm feelings, and showing their upright and kind nature in a difficult and difficult environment. No matter how many vicissitudes and changes there are in the world, the yearning for a better life is the background of their struggle.
