Donald Trump is known for many things, including knowing how to do business. Trump may not be the smartest pea in the pod, but he certainly knows how to make money out of thin air. The former U.S. president had dabbled in hundreds of different businesses before deciding to run for office, but even after his time ran out, Trump was still sitting on hundreds of millions of dollars in liquid assets.
It's true that Trump is no longer one of the richest people in the world, only making it onto the Forbes List of America's 400 Richest People, but this guy has been quietly flipping millions of dollars for months! He may have climbed a lot of positions on this list because he only needs about $500 million to get back to the major leagues again. So, how did Trump get rich this time? He wrote a book. Well, "writing" is an exaggeration, but you'll get it.
Unlike his predecessor, the former U.S. president did not hesitate to write his memoirs shortly after leaving the White House and published a book called "Our Peers" about his presidency. But that's not exactly the kind of book you might think of.
The book is a collection of photographs taken during Donald Trump's tenure as President of the United States. Our journey started selling without any big announcements or expensive advertising campaigns, but it has managed to bring tens of millions of dollars in profits to authors.
The photographs used in this book are by no means exclusive, most of them were taken by official White House photographers and have been published, so what is so special about Our Peers?
The most valuable of the hilarious books is Trump's handwritten commentary, who is known for his arrogant and unrestrained attitude.
According to the book's publisher, the former president gave his supporters what to expect from him: Journey contains 300 photographs of politicians and celebrities, as well as Mr. Trump's views on those photos. Usually offensive and sometimes just obscene.
Since its release in late November, Our Journey has sold more than $20 million in less than two months. The price tag is also good, a regular book is about $75, and if you want your copy to get Trump's signature, you need $230.
Unfortunately, supply has not met the extreme demand, so people who order "Let's Travel Together" may not be able to see their books until the end of February or early March. Internet searches of available books are currently found with nothing but copies sold by third parties. A signed copy sold as a "collectible" on Amazon costs $1,749. Other signed books on eBay range in price from $950 to $1300.
Ironically, the only thing currently preventing Trump from signing on tens of thousands of "Our Journey" is that Republicans have been trying to blame his successor for supply chain problems. There simply isn't enough paper.
