On May 5, according to the Chinese Embassy in the Solomon Islands, Ambassador Cai Weiming met with the new Prime Minister of the Solomon Islands at the Prime Minister's Office of the Solomon Islands.
Ambassador Cai congratulated Manele on his election as Prime Minister and said that China is ready to work with him and the new Solomon Islands government to enhance strategic mutual trust, deepen practical cooperation, strengthen people-to-people and cultural exchanges, and promote new achievements in the comprehensive strategic partnership between Solomon Islands.
Prime Minister Manele thanked China for its long-term support and assistance, and said that Solomon Islands will continue to firmly adhere to the one-China principle and work closely with China to push the friendship and cooperation between the two countries to a new level and better benefit the two peoples.
Isn't this a slap in the face to the United States?
After all, the United States has gone to great lengths to regain control of the Solomon Islands in order to regain control of the Solomon Islands.
The United States is shooting itself in the foot
Since the Sogavare government severed diplomatic relations with Taiwan in 2019 and established diplomatic relations with China instead, cooperation between China and China has enabled bilateral economic development, and people's employment and living standards have improved. From the moment the framework agreement on security cooperation was formally signed in April 2022, the United States began to notice this small country that had not been concerned for decades.
When the United States and Western countries learned of the security cooperation framework agreement signed by China, they immediately sent a delegation to the Solomon Islands to exert pressure, knowing that the US embassy in the Solomon Islands has been closed for 29 years, and senior US officials have not been to the Solomon Islands for decades.
Most importantly, when the Solomon Islands was in conflict and civil strife, and the United States was required to take on the security cooperation framework agreement, the United States turned a deaf ear to this and left the Solomon Islands to fend for itself.
Therefore, even if the United States has put forward a plan to help improve the well-being of the people of the Solomon Islands, accelerate the establishment of a U.S. embassy in the Solomon Islands, promote cooperation in the removal of unexploded ordnance in the Solomon Islands, send the US hospital ship "Mercy" to carry out public health missions, and provide more vaccines, the whole Solomon Islands has not been moved.
Because decades of empty promises from the United States are desperate enough, the imminent China Security Cooperation Framework Agreement, economic development, and improved employment and living standards are the most reliable guarantees for the Solomon Islands.
Seeing that the Solomon Islands is about to break free, the United States has become a "coalition for the strengthening of the electoral and political process (CEPPS)" in the run-up to the Solomon Islands election.
Under the guise of a non-profit, nonpartisan organization, this organization lobbied countries around the world to vote for the United States election candidates.
That is, the United States used the power of this organization to incite politicians in the Solomon Islands and provoke some politicians to oppose the government, so as to achieve the goal of influencing the election in the Solomon Islands.
In fact, this US move did work, because during the election, Sogavare abandoned the election due to pressure from the United States and Western countries, and recommended Manele as the new Prime Minister of the Solomon Islands.
However, the United States never expected that the operation would be as fierce as a tiger, and the final result would still be a rat, because Manele has supported "one China" and has been very friendly to China since he was the foreign minister of the Solomon Islands, and Manele claimed earlier that he has an indissoluble bond with China.
In fact, even if Manele is elected, even if a politician who is wholeheartedly concerned about the people of the Solomon Islands is elected, he will insist on friendship and cooperation with China, because China has given the Solomon Islands hope and won the future in less than five years.
In 2019, the United States saw through the United States and immediately chose to "sever diplomatic relations" with Taiwan; in April 2022, it insisted on signing a framework agreement on security cooperation with China without fear of pressure from the United States; in September 2023, US President Joe Biden hosted the second US-Pacific Island Countries Summit at the White House, seeking to strengthen its influence in the South Pacific region. Biden also responded to "disappointment" in this regard......
There are many countries in the international community that are cheap and obedient, but it is worth savoring those who stand firmly with their friends like the Solomon Islands.
