Red Star Capital Bureau noted that in the past year, Douban has frequently attracted public attention because of problems such as "roll call", "removal" and "penalty".
The most recent time Douban was fined was on December 1, 2021, when the person in charge of the Cyberspace Administration of China interviewed the main responsible person and editor-in-chief of Douban. Subsequently, the Cyberspace Administration of Beijing Municipality imposed administrative penalties totaling 1.5 million yuan in fines on Douwang Technology, the operator of Douban.
It is worth noting that between January and November 2021, the Internet information department has imposed 20 disposal penalties on Douban, of which 500,000 yuan has been fined many times, and the cumulative fine has reached 9 million yuan. The main reason for the multiple penalties is that the platform disseminates online publications containing prohibited content, including obscene, pornographic, gambling, violence and other information.
In addition to being fined, Douban was removed from the Militbuki on December 9 last year for collecting user information beyond the scope. Subsequently, the topic of "Douban removal" directly rushed to the hot search on Sina Weibo.
Red Star Capital Bureau actual measurements found that as of now, Douban is still in the state of removal from huawei, millet, OPPO and vivo app stores.
Founded in March 2005, Douban was once known as the "spiritual corner of literary youth". By the end of 2019, Douban had more than 200 million registered users and more than 400 million monthly active users.
However, from 2021 onwards, Douban has become the key rectification area of the "Rice Circle • Qinglang" action. At the end of September 2021, the Douban head entertainment group "Douban Goose Group" was suspended for 2 months, and then many groups involved in entertainment and rice circles were also required to rectify.
According to Douban data, as of November 26, 2021, in the special action to rectify the chaos of the "rice circle", Douban has deleted more than 420,000 pieces of illegal and bad information, nearly 5,000 accounts that have banned illegal words, and more than 80 problem groups that have been dissolved or deactivated.
