outburst! DJI drone was "upgraded sanctions": the United States designed software directly cut off supply!

The riot against "U.S. Sanctions List-related companies" is coming again.

According to the latest news, the US software company Figma has suspended the accounts of companies such as DJI on the grounds of "complying with US sanctions."

Figma is a browser-based collaborative UI design tool, i.e. cloud UI design software.

Because of its excellent online multiplayer collaboration experience and surrounding ecology, Figma has won the favor of many designers and is currently one of the hottest UI design software on the market. Last June, the company completed a $200 million Series E funding round.

It is worth mentioning that Figma's vision is to "make the design accessible to everyone", while in the email, the company said that it is "possible" to restore access to the files after DJI is removed from the sanctions list.

According to the China Fund News, at present, DJI has made an emergency response, notifying the company's employees to move files with private accounts as soon as possible. Figma also confirmed the news.

What is Figma?

Figma is graphics editing software that Dylan Field and Evan Wallace began working on when they were majoring in computer science at Brown University in 2012. At the time, Evan Wallace was studying graphics and was a teaching assistant in the computer science department, while Dylan Field was leading the computer science undergraduate group.

Figma's original goal was to enable "anyone to be creative by creating free, simple, creative tools in the browser." Dylan Field and Evan Wallace experimented with different ideas, including drone software and meme generators, before deciding to use web-based graphical editor software.

Since its inception, especially in recent years, Figma has grown rapidly, gaining a considerable share of the online design market. By Q4 last year, its valuation had exceeded $10 billion. Its influence is so great that some media have dubbed this type of online design software "Figma Track".

Many domestic software companies have expressed solidarity at the first time, launching functions such as Figma file import to help affected enterprises minimize the impact of the ban.

Fortunately, many netizens and industry insiders said that there are many similar software at home and abroad that can replace Figma, and the replacement cost is not high, so this incident will not have much impact on DJI in a short period of time.

Domestic software companies have struck

In fact, online collaborative design SaaS, including cloud UI design software, has become a new entrepreneurial and investment hotspot in recent years.

Benchmarking Figma, in 2021, the Blue Lagoon team launched MasterGo, which can also be directly accessed and used online through the browser.

The "Collaborative Sketch" instant design completed tens of millions of dollars in series A++ and B financing in 2021. At the time, it was reported that instant design had achieved 6-figure user growth in a single quarter.

In addition, Tencent's CoDesign, Wondershare's incubated Pixso and other platforms are also players on the same track.

As soon as figma cut off the supply operation, these domestic manufacturers also reacted quickly.

Blue Lagoon issued a statement saying:

MasterGo has officially launched the Figma file import function, and improves the support for post-import editing to help everyone get through this event.

Instant Design also promises:

Similarly, both CoDesign and Pixso have launched the Figma file migration feature.
