When it is hoped that the viewer can first notice the content and form a sequence, it must be clearly indicated through design, in which case the proportion of the size of the content of each part is called the "priority rate" in the design field.
If the overall content of the page is prioritized, then the content of the page will be rich in changes, resulting in dynamic and rhythmic effects. Conversely, pages with a lower priority rate give the impression of stability and flatness. When designing the size of the area occupied by each part of the content, it must be arranged based on the communication characteristics of the media carrier.
Prioritize content by image size. When there are many images of the same size on the page, the viewer will think that these pictures are processed side by side. If you enlarge one of the pictures, it will stand out more than the others. In the layout design, consciously expand the pictures that you want the viewer to pay attention to, and shrink the pictures that do not want the viewer to pay attention to, and the priority rate of the page will be improved, so as to achieve the purpose of clearly distinguishing the order of the content.
Prioritize content by text size. The size of the text font is called "font size", and this difference in font size value is called "priority rate". The larger the font size, the easier it is to recognize and the easier it is to be attracted; conversely, the smaller the font size, the less noticeable it is.
Prioritize content by color and shape. For two images with the same hue, a color with a higher purity is more prominent than a color with a lower purity. But in many different pieces of content, only one part of the content is different in color, in which case the viewer can clearly recognize that this content is important.
Of course, you can also distinguish the order by shape. Special shapes are more likely to attract the attention of the viewer, and when the surrounding content is all different shapes, the degree of attracting the attention of the viewer will be weakened; in the same shape, only a special shape is mixed in, which can be used to emphasize the content.
The so-called blank space refers to the "white ground left behind" of the page. But "purposeless blanks" and "purposeful blanks" have different effects on the beauty of a page. Purposeful blank space can reduce the sense of oppression of the page, can change the impression of the page, can show the difference in the distance between the page content, can make the page produce changes in composition, and can make the page get the expansion of space. Therefore, mastering the function of blank space, you can control the spatial composition of the page with a clearer purpose.
Unify the spacing between pictures. Through the spacing between pictures, you can effectively show the correlation between pictures and the combination relationship between them. Therefore, when arranging the distance between pictures, certain standards should be set in advance. In addition, in the typesetting process of two or more pictures, the pictures can overlap each other to make it a whole, which can indicate a strong combination relationship between the pictures.
The spacing between uniform text. The spacing between uniform text includes two kinds of absolute intervals to ensure the readability of content and relative intervals to indicate the relevance of content. If the line spacing of each paragraph is different in the body of the text, it is considered that the content of each line is different and is not easy to read. From a local point of view, if the distance between the subtitle and the main text is much larger than the distance between the paragraphs, it will also make reading difficult.
Unify the spacing between images and text. It is necessary to determine the interval between the picture and the text as different elements of the arrangement according to the preset criteria and to express the relationship between each other. For example, the relationship between photos and text descriptions is generally used in the absolute interval of about 2mm. When the interval between the photo and the text description is determined, it is best to use a uniform distance between the various elements in a unified page. In this way, the text description corresponding to each picture can be clear at a glance.
First of all, as a general rule, it should be possible to unify the width of the paragraph text with the picture. If the length of the line and the end of the paragraph are different, it will feel incongruous. Of course, if all the content is handled overly uniformly, it will sometimes have the opposite effect, giving people a dull feeling. In the process of mixing text and pictures, it is important to add changes to the neatness.
In the layout, whether the pictures are unified or different, if the relationship is not clear, the picture will not look beautiful. The parts that should be unified are unified, and the parts that should be separated are boldly pulled apart, so that the text and pictures will look both organized and orderly, and we must pay attention to avoid those scattered arrangements that are not well organized.
When multiple shapes appear on a layout at the same time, if the edges are not unified, it is difficult for the viewer to feel the relationship between them. However, even if it is only by adjusting the vertical and horizontal edges, it can make the viewer feel the relationship between the contents of each part and give people an orderly impression.
Adjusting the edges of each part can make the page as a whole produce an order, while a page that has not been aligned and unified will make the viewer feel disorganized. In addition, by unifying the content of each part of the page, the content can be logically distinguished, making it easier for the viewer to see the inherent difference between the parts and the parts.
When mixing images and text, care should be taken not to damage the readability of the text part because you are inserting a picture. If you insert a picture into the text of the constituent paragraphs, the reading line of sight will be interrupted, and the viewer will often not know where to continue reading. And in the middle of a line of text, you should not insert a picture in an inappropriate position and cause it is inconvenient to read.
Consider inserting pictures at the beginning and end of a paragraph, and when inserting a picture into a paragraph anyway, you should arrange the picture in a position that does not cause the paragraph to be unsmooth. When inserting a picture, the arrangement should be designed with full consideration not to obstruct the flow of sight.
In some cases, you must insert text into the picture. An important premise for this situation is not to overwrite the text on the subject that needs to be highlighted. For example: the human face, hands, details of the subject of the still life, etc. If the text is obscured by the key display part of the subject, it will be noisy, affecting the viewer's viewing effect and making people feel bored.
For text, even if it is inserted into an image, it is best to use a color that does not affect the legibility of the text. Because the picture is made up of multiple colors, if the text color is not selected correctly, it will often cause it to be illegible. It is best to choose white and black as the basic text colors. The white text in the picture, if you choose a slender font, such as fine song, will also be difficult to identify, and the printing process will often be missed. If you choose white text, then the safest choice should be to choose fonts with thick strokes, such as boldface.
In the layout design process, designers usually enlarge the font size of the text that wants to be more obvious, and the result of this will make the difference between the text and other content too large, giving people a "full" impression, so as not to create an elegant effect. If we enhance the effect by not enlarging the font size, only by leaving blank space, and only changing the color of this part, even if the font size of the text is small, the text will become obvious.
Enlarging the blank space around the text is also an effective method. If the overall direction of the design is to be able to highlight the "elegant intention", then you can try to make it "prominent" through the flexible treatment of the surrounding blank space, and effectively avoid the conflict between the text and the atmosphere of the picture.
