Snapdragon 8 Gen1 Plus exposure: TSMC foundry Xiaomi took the lead in polishing

Before the Snapdragon 8 Gen1 was released, there was news that Qualcomm's Plus version in the second half of the year was to replace the foundry with TSMC, codenamed SM8475.

In the past, Qualcomm only increased the frequency to achieve a small performance upgrade, the replacement of the foundry is still the first time, the reason is temporarily unknown, it is expected to be related to power consumption, the name should be Snapdragon 8 Gen1 Plus.

Industry insiders said that the yield of TSMC OEM is higher than that of Samsung. Taking snapdragon 8 Gen1 Plus as an example, since the third quarter, Snapdragon 8 Gen1 Plus has produced more than 50,000 pieces per quarter, and the current yield has exceeded 70%.

This yield is quite higher than Samsung's Snapdragon 8 Gen1, which is expected to be one of the reasons why Qualcomm chose TSMC.

And some leakers revealed that in the second half of this year and next year, Qualcomm Snapdragon processors will all be changed to TSMC processes, and the power consumption performance will definitely be better than now.
