Distinguished guests, friends, good morning!

It is a great honor to participate in the "Wuzhen Discourse: Internet Corporate Social Responsibility Forum", first of all, on behalf of Peking University, please allow me to express my warm welcome and heartfelt thanks to all of you.

The digital transformation driven by the Internet is one of the most significant opportunities and challenges facing human society after the Industrial Revolution. Since the 21st century, China's Internet has experienced a process from "introduction", "learning" to "innovation", and gradually began to comprehensively promote and lead the development of the global network ecology. In the 14th Five-Year Plan and the 2035 long-term goals, the development of the Internet plays a more important role, playing an irreplaceable role in accelerating the construction of digital society and driving the transformation of important modes of digital society and production methods.

In the process of rapid development of the Internet, China has given birth to many large Internet enterprises, and today many representatives of enterprises are on the scene, they have created a Chinese model of Internet development through technological application innovation and model innovation, built the world's largest digital living space, and promoted the digital transformation of the economy and society.

According to the 48th Statistical Report on the Development of the Internet in China issued by the China Internet Information Center, as of June 2021, China's Internet users exceeded 1 billion for the first time, and the Internet penetration rate reached 71.6%, which makes the philosopher's "universal communication, internet of everything" become a reality. The world is more closely connected, providing convenience for human life and social governance, not leaving the house, going to the world, not peeping, seeing the heavens. This convenience is more evident during the pandemic, but at the same time, the closer we are connected, the more challenges we face as individuals, societies and our lives, as well as new questions. "Standardize in development, develop in norms" has become the norm, many questions do not have ready-made answers, but serious thinking about these issues is conducive to creating a better development environment and a better world.

The most important issue here is values, the core of the values advocated by contemporary China is people-centered, and the implementation of people-centered values in real life is manifested in how enterprises understand their relationship with society and the state, and how to understand corporate social responsibility.

An indisputable fact is that the development of enterprises is inseparable from the development of the country and is closely related to the policies of the country. It is the reform and opening up of more than 40 years that has made us a large number of outstanding enterprises, the state's support for the Internet industry, the society's demand for Internet companies, for the growth of Internet companies to provide the greatest background. "Those who have the greatness of the country in their hearts and the people's thoughts and thoughts" have become the fundamental premise for an enterprise to go steady and far-reaching, which also returns to the theme of the forum, the corporate social responsibility of Internet enterprises.

All enterprises have social responsibility, but because of its particularity and increasingly important position, Internet companies will also bear special social responsibility, which is not only manifested in donations and charity, but also not only in the social and people's livelihood, environmental protection, resource conservation, rural revitalization and common prosperity, but also in the high degree of consciousness of cyberspace governance, data security, user privacy, rights and interests and other fields. Internet enterprises in the new era should strengthen the orientation of social responsibility as the primary content of corporate values, better adhere to the balance and unity of commercial value and social value, integrate social responsibility into the top-level strategy of technological innovation, daily operation, and corporate culture, and become a great enterprise in serving the country and society. Great enterprises do not depend entirely on scale, nor do they depend entirely on profits, fundamentally speaking, depending on values, traditional Chinese culture is called Tao and Virtue, Zhou Yili especially has a sentence about Chongde Guangye, Chongde is the foundation of Guangye, morality does not exclude interests, "profiteers, the sum of righteousness", the so-called morality is the combination of the interests of all parties, becoming oneself into things, and better achieving oneself in the things.

I understand that assuming social responsibility cannot be simply understood as one-way giving, it is actually mutual achievement, Lao Tzu Daodejing said in particular, "that is, the more people have themselves, the more they give themselves." In this era of increasingly fierce competition and increasing uncertainty, having the right values and actively assuming social responsibility can obtain a stable foundation for survival and development, and avoid its rise and prosperity, and its demise is also neglected.

Distinguished guests, in more than 100 years of history, Peking University has been closely linked to the fate of the nation and the country, not long ago there was a popular TV series "The Age of Awakening", so that everyone can fully understand the important role played by Peking University in the early spread of Marxism and the founding of the Communist Party of China, whether in the revolution, or in different periods of construction and reform, Peking University people have been making their own contributions in different ways, and universities in the new era are responsible for talent training, scientific research, social services, The mission of cultural inheritance innovation and international exchange and cooperation can only be better realized if it consciously serves the national strategy and actively responds to the needs of society. We believe that only by actively assuming social responsibility and maintaining positive interaction with the national economy and society, Peking University can produce more new knowledge, new ideas and new technologies to promote national development and human progress, we are fully aware that the connection, cooperation and innovation embodied in the Internet represent the spirit of this era, Peking University is also willing to society, and enterprises, we are here today, all the enterprise representatives, we come together to deepen cooperation on basic, innovative and interdisciplinary issues.
