The war has been going on for a few days, but many readers still don't know why Russia invaded Ukraine, and it is necessary to make a "popular science" here.
Many believe that the Russian government launched this war to invade Ukraine to prevent Ukraine from becoming a nato member and to prevent NATO from deploying land-based medium-range missiles in Ukraine that could threaten Moscow. In fact, although since 2014, Ukraine has been applying to join NATO and writing it into its own laws, NATO has not allowed Ukraine to join, or even given a clear timetable, for no other reason, Ukraine is currently unable to meet NATO's requirements, such as Russia has territorial disputes, nato also has member states worried that if Ukraine joins, it will further worsen the European security situation.
Russia itself also seeks to become a member of NATO, applying 4 times, of which 3 times were proposed by President Putin when he was in power, but because Russia itself does not meet some of NATO's hard rules, coupled with the strong opposition of many NATO members, Russia has never been able to achieve its wishes. And the main purpose of NATO's existence itself is also to deal with Russia, with Russia's aggressive ambitions, if there is no NATO common defense mechanism protection, it is not known where Russia's western border will be pushed, European countries, especially Russia's neighbors rush to join NATO, is not worried about becoming part of Russia?
As for the deployment of offensive weapons in Ukraine, it is simply nonsense. Even if NATO considers the Russian Army's Iskander-K cruise missile to violate the INF Treaty, it simply demands that such missiles be destroyed or not deployed in Europe, while NATO has repeatedly stressed that it will not allow the United States to deploy any form of land-based medium-range missiles in Europe, whether cruise missiles, ballistic missiles or hypersonic weapons. If NATO really intends to deploy land-based medium-range missiles in Europe that can hit Moscow, the Baltic states as NATO members are not ready-made choices, so why choose Ukraine?

The Russian government said that it launched a "special military operation" in Ukraine to achieve "de-Nazismization" and "demilitarization" in Ukraine and prevent Ukrainian nationalist forces from acquiring nuclear weapons. Without mentioning that its real intention is to overthrow the current Ukrainian government and establish a pro-Russian government in the interests of the Kremlin, these reasons are in themselves untenable:

As for demilitarization, if Ukraine is disarmed, will it not be annexed by Russia at any time? As a non-NATO member, Ukraine is unable to obtain the protection of NATO's common defense mechanism, and Russia can make Ukraine a part of itself at any time.
As for preventing Ukrainian nationalist forces from acquiring nuclear weapons, after NATO repeatedly stood by, some ukrainian government executives did say that they would reconsider whether the decision to abandon nuclear weapons was correct. You know, the acquisition of nuclear weapons is not only enough, Ukraine has this technology, but it may not have this capability, refining enough weapons-grade enriched uranium, it takes a lot of money, not to mention Russia, even NATO will not use one more nuclear country in the world, especially in Europe. If Ukraine does acquire nuclear weapons at all costs, it is certain that the Western support it has received will be lost, if not entirely, and will lose most of it, absolutely not to lose.
When Ukraine agrees to destroy all nuclear weapons and hand over some of them to Russia, it is protected by multiple States, that is, in the event of a nuclear attack or nuclear threat, ukraine is obliged to provide nuclear protection to Ukraine. And when President Putin ordered the Russian nuclear deterrent force to enter a special state, did these countries provide nuclear protection for Ukraine?
