There is such a group of young people in Jinshan, telling stories with "Chinese paper"...

The mesh is immersed in the pulp made of the wall-breaking mechanism, and it is copied obliquely, and a piece of handmade paper emerges, and when it is dried, it can be made into lampshades, fans, screens, notebook covers and other crafts.

At the Paper Guantang Creative Workshop in Xinyi Village, Fengjing Town, Jinshan District, the experiencer can not only learn traditional handicrafts such as paper copying, dyeing paper, transmission, engraving and printing, mounting and binding, but also understand how a piece of paper is from raw materials to finished products.

Paper Culture Technology (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Guanxuan Culture Group. Jin Peiyao, chairman of Guanxuan Culture Group, and her team chose the challenging exploration path of "science and technology Chinese paper". On this road, they have been walking for 14 years, not only paying tribute to the past, but also bringing traditional crafts to the future.

Jin Peiyao, chairman of Guanxuan Culture Group

"A book bound on traditional Chinese paper is quietly placed there, making people feel beautiful even if it is not opened, which is itself a silent expression of Chinese culture."

The volume of antique-bound line-bound books and the words full of wisdom and philosophy made her feel a deep connection with this thousand-year-old civilization when she read it.

However, she suffered a blow in the research phase alone: from the perspective of the world, the mechanized production of Western-style books has developed for more than two hundred years, becoming a huge industry with high automation, but in China, Han paper manufacturing, Han paper printing and the binding process of Chinese paper books have remained in the era of manual workshops.

In order to break the dilemma, Jin Peiyao founded the Paper Culture Technology Company under its Guanxuan Culture Group, and organized cultural scholars, researchers and engineers to establish a research and development team for the industrialization of Chinese paper culture. After nearly ten years of efforts, the team has established a model of "the whole process technology of digital production of Chinese paper products", as the guiding general program of the technology research and development path, developed the separation and extraction technology of plant fibers, studied the anhydrous manufacturing technology of Han paper, the flexible production technology of Han paper variable data ink printing, and the flexible production technology of Han paper book binding; and the United Nations software and equipment manufacturing enterprises produced a full set of digital production equipment, built a "Han paper digital ink printing all-round workshop", and the production of traditional Chinese paper books should be changed from the era of handicraft workshops. Promote to the era of digital intelligent production.

"Papermaking preserved in the intangible cultural heritage is our origin, but not the end."

While overcoming technical difficulties, the team also faced the doubts of traditional craftsmen. When visiting the inheritors of non-heritage papermaking all over the country, the team heard many voices, many people do not recognize the han paper machinery manufacturing, think that the machine-made Han paper is not Han paper, and also insist that Han paper because of its soft and breathable properties can not achieve machine printing.

Only by responding to doubts with repeated key problems can we encourage everyone to inherit and carry forward. The first problem encountered in the industrial production of Han paper is that the source of papermaking raw materials is guaranteed, and the handmade pulp is inefficient, costly and highly polluted, so the team has studied and realized the zero-emission anhydrous production of pulp production. In the early stage, a large number of problems were also encountered in the transformation of offset papermaking equipment, and the offset papermaking equipment was only suitable for glue pulp, not suitable for the requirements of Han paper water slurry. It had to be greatly modified, then modified according to the modification, and finally designed a set of equipment specifically for the production of Han paper based on practical feedback.

Han paper is soft, highly breathable and highly pure, which is not suitable for general offset printing equipment printing, and even Han paper cannot be realized by entering the offset printing machine. To this end, the R&D team avoided offset printing methods and chose digital printing technology that was in the early stages of development at that time. The company had to spend more than 18 million yuan to import equipment from Germany, but the imported printing equipment was not suitable for Chinese paper printing, and the cost of software use, maintenance service costs and spare part replacement costs were high. After several attempts to customize the domestic "flat replacement" parts, the team simply threw off the German machine, looked for a domestic mechanical design company, and tailored a set of Chinese-made machines and processes with independent intellectual property rights for Han Paper. The team cooperated with the cigarette pack printing equipment company to develop four-color digital inkjet printing technology on the basis of monochrome drug supervision and coding technology. With the machine, the process and the technology have also broken through, the first set of Chinese paper digital ink color printing equipment manufactured in the country has directly reduced the cost of the equipment to 1/10 of the original.

Han paper printing requires mineral pigment ink, but also need to develop a mineral pigment ink suitable for Han paper printing, must have the performance of traditional pigment ink, but also to achieve a high-precision nozzle match. To this end, the team has cooperated with nanotechnology research institutions to develop a series of nano mineral pigment inks, and the printing quality reaches or even exceeds offset printing.

"Our machine can complete 16 traditional binding methods of printing and binding production, replacing the traditional Chinese paper manual printing, cutting folding, the efficiency of manual work up to 10 times. Greater production capacity means lower costs, and more paper books carrying traditional Chinese culture can enter thousands of households, allowing more people to touch and read. Li Huaiqian, technical strategy consultant and head of research and development of Paper Culture Technology (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., introduced.

With the price and high-end quality of the people, "science and technology Chinese paper" has quickly become the focus of attention of various cultural units, and more than 100 domestic top cultural academic and scientific research institutions, cultural and cultural institutions, cultural and publishing institutions such as the Palace Museum, Dunhuang Research Institute, People's Daily People's Cultural Creation, Xiling Cultural Creation, Digital Literature Research Institute of Capital Normal University, Zhejiang Provincial Library Ancient Book Protection Center, Xiling Printing Press, and China Artists Association have become their strategic cooperation units. In exchange for free ancient book reproduction services, they also took back many digital texts of precious documents lost overseas and donated them to domestic libraries and museums free of charge.

At the beginning of February this year, Guanxuan Cultural Group signed a project cooperation agreement with Xinyi Village, Fengjing Town, Jinshan District, which will roll out a larger blueprint here. Adhering to the original intention of "making the words written in ancient books come alive", Fengjing Paper Concept has become a "three innovations" cluster industrial project that integrates science and technology, agricultural innovation and cultural creation.

The Yangtze River Delta Han Paper Modern Culture Operation Center and Demonstration Base, including the Sanshiro Shuku Research Hall "Paper GuanTang And Creative Arts Workshop" that has been formed in Xinyi Village, and the upcoming Han Paper Digital Ink Printing Workshop and the Han Paper Live Craft Experience Cultural Park, will also tell the "Chinese Story" on paper.
