The results of the 16th "Silver Pigeon Award" organized by the International Propaganda Office of the Shanghai Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China were recently announced, and a total of 214 works were selected for the selection activity, and the exhibition "Ancient Chinese Bronze Civilization" submitted by the Shanghai Museum won the (2021) Best Event/Case Award.
From September 16, 2021 to November 14, 2021, the Shanghai Museum held a special exhibition on "Ancient Chinese Bronze Civilization" at the National Museum of Korea, exhibiting 68 pieces/groups of exhibits from the Shanghai Museum's collection, which is the largest special exhibition of bronzes held overseas by the Shanghai Museum in recent years, and has been included in the list of projects of the "China-Korea Cultural Exchange Year" by the Chinese and Korean governments. Previously, in January 2020, the two museums signed the "Friendly and Cultural Exchange Agreement" in Shanghai to jointly promote cultural exchanges, people-to-people communication and mutual learning among civilizations. The success of this cooperation is based on the framework of friendly cooperation between the two museums.

The exhibition is divided into four sections: the birth of bronzes, the development of bronzes, the ritual system and war, and the changes in bronzes. The exhibition era spans more than 1500 years, showing the characteristics of ancient Chinese bronze civilization with diverse types, rich shapes and magnificent ornaments, completely presenting the trajectory of the occurrence, development and evolution of Chinese bronzes, and using exquisite bronzes with the characteristics of the times, explaining the historical, artistic, scientific and technological values of bronzes, the connotation of Chinese history and culture, and the profound influence of ancient Chinese civilization on the East Asian cultural circle.
