The Concept EV9 is based on E-GMP, Kia's dedicated platform for electric vehicles, and follows Kia's new design concept "Opposites United". The front part of the Concept EV9 is a body color panel that replaces the fuel car grille, and the "Star Map Logo Light" forms a "digital tiger face" symbolizing Kia's electric model identity. At the top of the "Digital Tiger Face," Kia set up an intake vent for the Concept EV9 to reduce driving resistance by sending oncoming air to the hood during driving. A solar panel that can use solar energy to charge the vehicle's battery is also applied to the hood.

The exterior lines of the vehicle stretch straight up and down, left and right, and have never seen such a neat body proportion in kia's other models. The triangular D-pillar uses the same angular design as the overall exterior and is a key element in perfecting the unique side windows of the Concept EV9. The geometric 22-inch wheels feature a triangular aerodynamic design that controls the flow of air around the wheels. In addition, the concept car features a storage-type roof that can be easily used at the touch button. When not in use, the roof slides down like a roof to maximize aerodynamics. At the same time, the Image Surveillance System (CMS), which replaces the side mirrors, improves aerodynamic performance while improving the driver's spatial perception.

Concept EV9 takes "Opened", "Floating", and "Pure" as the core of the interior design. The "O" letter steering wheel on the front of the driver's seat is uniquely shaped. The ultra-wide 27-inch display, which can balance the driver and front passengers, is particularly eye-catching. The Concept EV9 is 4930 mm long, 2055 mm wide, 1790 mm high and has a wheelbase of up to 3100 mm. With 350kW ultra-high-speed charging, it takes about 20 to 30 minutes to charge from 10% to 80%, and it can travel up to 482 kilometers with a full charge.

What makes the vehicle special is that the Concept EV9 is equipped with three modes that can change the seat layout depending on the state of driving or parking. The vehicle drives with the "Active Mode" of the regular seat layout, with all seats in the first, second and third rows facing forward. When parking is activated, the "Pause Mode" is enabled, the first row of seats rotates 180 degrees and moves to the front of the vehicle to the maximum, the third row of seats remains as it is, and the second row of seats folds up to use as a table. In this mode, passengers can sit face-to-face in the first and third rows. "Enjoy mode" is a casual mode that rotates the third row of seats 180 degrees and opens the tailgate so that passengers can sit in the third row and enjoy the view outside the car.

Kia uses discarded fishing nets that pollute the sea as materials for making flooring and uses recycled plastic bottles to make seats, doors and windows. Not only that, but the steering wheel and center console of the Concept EV9 also use dry leather that uses less water than natural leather production, as well as external dyes that use water as raw materials to have a less environmental impact. In the future, Kia plans to gradually reduce the use of natural leather in all future models.
