At the same time, Yunnan is also an inland plateau province, with crisscrossed by high mountains and deep valleys and large rivers and rivers, which seriously restricts Yunnan's foreign exchanges and exchanges. But Yunnan has never given up its exploration of the outside world, from the Southern Silk Road to the Tea Horse Ancient Road, the industrious and brave people of all ethnic groups in Yunnan have embarked on a road connecting the world.

The exhibits full of the sense of the times in the Yunnan Telecom Museum made Li Yang, a citizen of Kunming who came to visit, excited, "Big Brother, BP machine, PHS, these communication equipment I have contacted." I personally feel the great progress of Yunnan in the field of information and communication, and I am very proud. ”

At the beginning of the 21st century, Yunnan has begun to build a "digital road" connecting the world. "In 2007, China Telecom Kunming's Regional International Communications Business Entry and Exit Bureau was officially opened, and the network reached 8 countries, including Thailand, Laos, Myanmar, Vietnam, Cambodia, India, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh, providing voice, data, and international Internet services for cross-border individuals and 'going out' enterprises." Wang Wei introduced.

In fact, in just a few decades, Yunnan communications have indeed undergone earth-shaking changes. Data from the Yunnan Provincial Communications Administration shows that by the end of 2020, the penetration rate of mobile phone users in Yunnan Province will reach 102.6%, the administrative villages will achieve 100% coverage of optical fiber broadband ahead of schedule, the scale of 4G base stations will enter the first echelon of China, and the urban areas where 16 state (city) governments are located have completed continuous 5G network coverage.

In recent years, Yunnan has proposed to build an international communication hub for South and Southeast Asia, and has made positive progress. At present, Yunnan has built 13 cross-border transmission cables connecting operators in Laos and Myanmar.

Operators are also constantly making efforts. China Telecom is continuously improving the capabilities of Kunming International Communications Entry and Exit Bureau to serve cross-border capacity cooperation and cross-border park construction. China Unicom plans to build a third communication hub in Kunming to build a "Belt and Road" data center. China Mobile is carrying out the construction of a dedicated internet data channel in Kunming, which will further enhance the export-oriented international communication and data communication service capabilities for "two Asias".

"The construction of the International Hub Communications New Year for South Asia and Southeast Asia also includes projects such as national Internet backbone direct connection points, internet data dedicated channels and root domain name mirror servers. By 2025, the construction of the hub will make a major breakthrough.
