According to the plan, Apple will completely get rid of its dependence on Intel chips in 2022.

According to Bloomberg, Apple will launch the M2 chip later this year and several new versions of the Mac equipped with the M2 chip, including the 13-inch MacBook Pro, Mac Mini, 24-inch iMac and the redesigned MacBook Air.

Although Apple officially did not provide any information about the performance of the M2 chip, mark Gurman, a well-known whistleblower, believes that the M2 chip will use the same 8-core architecture as the M1, the CPU will be slightly faster than the M1, and the graphics processor M2 will increase from 7 or 8 to 9 or 10. Similar to the M1, Apple may release Pro and Max versions of the M2 chip in 2023.

As early as 2020, Apple CEO Cook said in an interview with the media that it will take two years to get rid of the dependence on Intel chips, and in 2022, all mac product lines will be updated to Arm architecture self-developed chips. This shift began with Apple's introduction of the MacBook Pro, Mac mini and MacBook Air with M1 chips in 2020, and continued with the M1 iMac in 2021.

Apple's breakthrough in new models this year will be based on the following self-developed chips:

New M2 chip

M1 Pro and M1 Max chips have been introduced

Super Power Enhanced version of the M1 Max

Gurman deduced that Apple will release several new products in 2022, including:

The new Mac mini with the M1 Pro chip

13-inch MacBook Pro with M2 chip

Mac mini with M2 chip

24-inch iMac with M2 chip

Redesigned MacBook Air with M2 chip

Larger iMac Pro with M1 Pro or M1 Max;

The Mac Pro, which is reduced in size by half, will have a base chip that will be "equivalent to 2 or 4 M1 Max chips."

In this way, Apple will launch four new Mac products equipped with M2 chips in 2022.

Although the M2 chip has not yet been released, according to Apple's original plan, the Mac product line will be fully updated to Arm architecture self-developed chips in 2022. It is reported that Apple will release new products as early as March.
