There were two patients in the outpatient clinic, both of whom had elevated triglycerides, one of whom I suggested he should control his diet and keep exercising; the other person directly prescribed him lipid-lowering drugs.

So why are the triglycerides elevated, some take medicine, some do not take medicine. Is there any catnip in this, or is there a person who is a relative of the doctor?
Case 1:
Mr. Zhang, 52 years old, found triglycerides 3.4mmol/L during the physical examination, and the physical examination center said that it was high blood lipids.
Later, some people suggested that he take medicine, and others suggested that he take health supplements. Finally, Mr. Zhang's mother said, go to Dr. Wang, Dr. Wang's popular science is good.
Mr. Zhang usually eats not much meat, so he is curious about why his triglycerides are elevated.
I asked him, how much do you eat as a staple food?
Mr. Zhang has loved to eat staple foods since he was a child, and he loves steamed buns, cakes and noodles.
I say most people know that eating too much fried food and too much meat raises blood lipids. However, few people know that fine grains eat too much, and after entering the human body, they will also be converted into triglycerides.
If triglycerides are elevated for a long time, they will increase the risk of atherosclerosis, that is, they will increase the plaque in the blood vessels, which may eventually lead to narrowing of blood vessels and even cause cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases.
Judging from the increase in Mr. Zhang's triglyceride level at that time, it was not very serious. And because Mr. Zhang usually loves to eat the staple food of fine grains.
So, my advice to Mr. Zhang:
1, reduce the fine grain staple food, the steamed bread, noodles, cakes, rice and other staple foods reduced by 1/3-1/2; you can use corn, brown rice, nest head, oats, millet, beans, potatoes and other coarse grains instead of fine grain staple foods.
2, to increase the proportion of vegetables and fruits.
3, meat can be eaten, not can not eat, like fish meat to a certain extent can also improve the metabolism of triglycerides.
4, do not drink, adhere to exercise.
After 1 month of this control, and then the blood lipids are rechecked, most of the triglycerides can return to normal.
Case 2:
Mr. Yang, 49 years old, also found that the triglycerides 6.5mmol/L were found on physical examination, and some people suggested that he eat statin, some people suggested that he eat bate, some people suggested that he eat fish oil, some people suggested that he eat leopard oil and so on.
Mr. Yang was confused, did not know how to be good, and was introduced to me by someone.
I told Mr. Yang:
1, statin drugs are mainly cholesterol-lowering, your cholesterol is not high, so for the time being, do not take statin drugs.
2, as for what oil, if you have good conditions at home, you can take it, but this is not the basis of triglycerides, but it has a certain triglyceride effect.
3. No matter how much triglycerides are elevated, you should eat a healthy diet first, which is the basis for controlling triglycerides. Because the vast majority of people's triglycerides are elevated, it is caused by poor dietary control.
(Mr. Yang usually likes to eat fried foods and likes to drink alcohol, so this diet is the reason for his elevated triglycerides.) )
4. Insist on taking lipid-lowering drugs of fibrates for a period of time, and recheck after one month.
The question is, why doesn't Mr. Zhang have to take medicine, but Mr. Yang has to take medicine?
This is because when the triglyceride exceeds 5.6mmol/L, it will not only lead to an increased risk of cardiovascular disease, but also in the short term may also cause acute pancreatitis. Acute pancreatitis is also a life-threatening disease. Therefore, when it is found that the triglyceride exceeds 5.6mmol/L, it is necessary to reduce the triglyceride to normal as soon as possible.
Mr. Yang's triglycerides are already 6.5mmol/L, so it is necessary to reduce his triglycerides to a safe level as soon as possible with drugs to avoid inducing acute pancreatitis.
5, must not overeat, must not drink alcohol, because the triglycerides are elevated, coupled with overeating or drinking, then it is easier to induce acute pancreatitis.
6, adhere to a certain exercise.
This is two patients with elevated triglycerides, although both are elevated triglycerides, but some must take medicine, and some do not need to take medicine for the time being.
In short, we need to understand that whether you take medicine or not, a healthy diet is the basis for preventing triglycerides!
