On the afternoon of February 19, the Department of Culture and Tourism of Shandong Province held a press conference to announce the list of outstanding field archaeological sites in Shandong Province from 2020 to 2021 and the list of the top five new archaeological discoveries in Shandong Province in 2021.
A total of 36 archaeological projects were selected to participate in the report, covering the Paleolithic period to the Ming and Qing dynasties. This report meeting is a concentrated display of Shandong Province's archaeological achievements in 2021, showing the characteristics of wide geographical distribution, large era span, rich types of remains, and outstanding important achievements, including important discoveries of active archaeological projects such as "Archaeology China" and wonderful highlights of archaeological work in cooperation with capital construction.
After the active declaration of various archaeological qualification units in the province and the preliminary review of the Archaeological Society, the experts finally evaluated the five "2021 Shandong Archaeological New Discoveries" in 18 projects, and 10 "2020-2021 Excellent Field Archaeological Sites" in 20 projects.
