For the hero of "Glory of Kings", Zhao Cong explores more possibilities of Chinese folk music

Holding a spear in his hand, he is heroic and cool, and the hero Yunyi in the mobile game "Glory of the King" is quite popular. A few days ago, Yunyi's theme music "Red Flame Of Tassels" was officially launched. From the playful plucking of the first few songs to the colorful collision of the climactic paragraphs, the musical vocabulary of the pipa in "The Wisp of Red Flames" portrays the game scene as if in front of the eyes, and the "Red Flame" skimming musket of the clouds seems to pass by the ears.

This well-received music was co-created by Zhao Cong, head of the Central Chinese Orchestra and principal pipa player, and Liu Dong, a young composer, and performed by Zhao Cong himself. Liu Dong built a musical framework, and the solo passages of Huacai were left blank and handed over to Zhao Cong to compose and play. "We can't take the pure tradition and use it, we must integrate the current aesthetic, plus special timbre and showmanship techniques, this will be a complete work." Zhao Cong said. The musical tension of "Red Flame" also complements yunyi's character design. In the collision of games and music, more young people have the opportunity to understand China's national music and traditional culture.

Zhao Cong is not the first time to cross the border. In her more than 20 years of playing career, she has been expanding the possibilities of folk music and bringing it to the international perspective. This year alone, she has explored many times: in the "Gathering with Friends on the Silk Road" project of the music festival "Gathering with Friends on the Silk Road" sponsored by the Abu Dhabi Cultural Tourism Department, Zhao Cong played Abu Dhabi's Oud Qin work "Light of the Soul" with a pipa, and the kings of their respective instruments in the two places collided with a different spark; on June 14, the international version of the ancient Chinese song "Kunpeng zhi" "Leaving" was launched at home and abroad. Zhao Cong, who was the first to try to produce bilingual songs in Chinese and English, single-handedly composed, composed and played the pipa, blending traditional ethnic soundtracks with Western singing methods. In the international edition of "Kunpeng Zhi", the soprano singer Mary-jess Leaverland (Chinese Li Meijie), who had contributed to the theme song of the popular British drama "Downton Abbey", led the singing; in the theme activity of "Walking into Sanxingdui to Understand Chinese Civilization", Zhao Cong improvised and played the opening song with the creativity of his ancestors. In order to further promote the sanxingdui culture, Zhao Cong created the pipa work "Samsung Divine Bird" and recorded the MV in the Sanxingdui Museum.

Inherit traditions and carry forward innovation. Embracing a pipa, Zhao Cong will continue to show the beauty of contemporary Chinese music to the world.
