Asus, MSI, Cool Cold, and GIGABYTE have disclosed or announced a new generation of power supplies that are compatible with the PCIe 5.0 graphics card power supply standard, but it is a bit messy, including the interface, how to name the power cord, and such a seemingly simple thing.
For example, GIGABYTE's UDM1000GM PG5, rated at 1000W, 80PLUS Gold certified, compact, fully modular, equipped with a new generation of interfaces and data cables, supporting up to 600W.
But on different official materials, there are different names:
PCIe 5.0 power cord, 12+4 pin power cord, 16 pin power cord, 12VHPWR......
Strictly speaking, it is true that 12VHPWR, the most complex and obscure, is the most standardized, from the name of the PCI-SIG organization.
Of course, 12+4 pins or 16 pins are the simplest and clearest, and they are also in line with tradition, but because 4 signal pins are optional, there will be 12 pins.
Back to the UDM1000GM PG5, the "PG5" at the end naturally represents PCIe 5.0, which is actually an upgraded version of the existing model UD1000GM, replacing the original two 8-pin interfaces with a 12+4-pin interface.
