On November 2, 2020, two young children in Chongqing's Nan'an District fell to their deaths. In the video taken by the residents of the community, after the incident, the father of the child ran downstairs without shoes and hit his head against the wall and cried bitterly.
For this accident, most of the local discussions are: the current parents are too negligent, how will they live in the future?
No one would have thought that this would have been a well-planned "accident". Nine days after the incident, the child's father Zhang Bo and girlfriend Ye Mou were criminally detained by the police on suspicion of intentional homicide.
The procuratorate's indictment shows that Ye mou cannot accept the fact that Zhang Bo has a child, and the two have repeatedly conspired to kill the two children through interviews, WeChat chats, etc., and agreed to kill the two children by accident.
"The kids are standing by the window, they're absolutely scared, they just don't know, the next second they're going to be thrown down." Mei Lin, the mother of two young children, told China News Weekly that the case would be heard on July 26 at the Chongqing No. 5 Intermediate People's Court.
Two young children fell to their deaths
At about 3 p.m. on November 2, 2020, two young children fell from the bay window window on the 15th floor in the Jinjiang Huafu Community in Chongqing's Nan'an District. In local media reports, the residents on the 7th floor were the first to find out the situation and quickly asked: "Whose baby fell?" ”
After hearing the cries of the occupants, some people ran to see that the two children lay motionless on the ground. Neighbors said Dad was sitting on the ground and collapsing and crying, crashing into the wall.
The child's mother, Chen Meilin, quickly received a call from her mother-in-law. On Monday, she was busy working outside when she heard her child fall down the stairs, and the whole person was frightened. She couldn't believe it and asked her mother-in-law again, "Where did it fall from?" ”
"15th floor window, come here!" After confirming the news, Chen Meilin's tears could no longer be controlled, and she parked the car on the side of the road and tried her best to stabilize her emotions before rushing to the Huafu community in Jinjiang. Within a few minutes, the mother-in-law called again and asked her to rush to the Fifth People's Hospital to see the child. At that time, she still thought that maybe the two children were lucky enough to be saved in time.
At the door of the hospital's emergency room, Chen Meilin met Zhang Bo, her ex-husband who was taking care of the child at the time. She couldn't control her broken emotions, crying and beating him while questioning what was going on.
Zhang Bo told her that he had a bit of a cold at the time, fell asleep after taking medicine, did not know what was happening, and later heard someone shouting downstairs, and woke up to find that the child was missing. For this reason, Chen Meilin could not accept it, but relatives and doctors pulled her aside and advised her not to get excited, and the child was still inside to rescue her.
Chen Meilin did not wait for hope. Half an hour later, the doctor walked out of the rescue room and informed his 2-and-a-half-year-old daughter Xiaoxue that she had died on the spot. Xiao Rui, a 1-and-a-half-year-old son, was in critical condition and was transferred to children's hospital, where he was also declared ineffective that night.
According to forensic examination and identification, Xiaoxue died of head injury caused by high fall, and Xiaorui died of respiratory and circulatory failure caused by brain and thoracic and abdominal multiple organ injuries caused by high fall.
The biological father threw the child downstairs
When dealing with the aftermath, Chen Meilin learned from a friend that when rescuing Xiaorui, Zhang Bo's family had talked about whether to buy insurance for the child. It made her emotions get out of control again.
The friend also revealed that Zhang Bo claimed to be in the living room at the time of the incident, which seemed to deviate from the previous explanation. Chen Meilin looked for Zhang Bo again, and this time he explained that his sister liked to hold his brother, and the two children played on the bedroom windowsill, and then accidentally had an accident.
This made Chen Meilin suspicious. The daughter is well-behaved and quiet, and usually never dares to climb the window to play. The younger brother is slightly naughty, but the mother-in-law only opens the window to ventilate when taking the child downstairs, and when she returns to the room, the windows of the house will not be opened.
On top of that, my 1-and-a-half-year-old brother is still too small to climb the window on his own. And how can the sister, who is less than 3 years old, be able to hold her brother, let alone open the window that even adults find laborious?
Until the 9th day after the incident, Zhang Bo and his girlfriend Ye Mou were arrested by the police, and the conspiracy behind this so-called "accident" slowly surfaced.

According to the indictment issued by the Fifth Branch of the Chongqing Municipal People's Procuratorate on March 18, 2021, on the day of the incident, that is, at 15:30 on November 2, Zhang Bo took advantage of his mother's absence to hold Xiao Xue and Xiao Rui, who were playing in the second bedroom, with their legs and threw the two from the second bedroom downstairs, causing Xiao Xue to die on the spot, and Xiao Rui died after being sent to the hospital for rescue.
This "accident" has been planned for a long time. According to the indictment, around February 2020, when Zhang Bo and his girlfriend Ye Met in the Longevity District, they conspired to kill Zhang Bo's children. Subsequently, the two discussed the murder method through interviews and WeChat chats many times, and agreed to kill Xiaoxue and Xiaorui by accidentally falling high. In June, Ye also repeatedly urged Zhang Bo to commit crimes through WeChat.
From late June to mid-September 2020, Zhang Bo and Ye broke up due to an argument. In mid-September, Zhang Bo took the initiative to contact Ye again, and after the two reconciled, they still conspired to kill the two children. In October, the two agreed to take Xiaoxue to Zhang Bo's house for the opportunity to commit the crime on the pretext of buying clothes for Xiaoxue.
On October 25, Zhang Bo asked his mother Liu Weihua to contact his ex-wife Meilin as planned, and took Xiaoxue to his home in Jinhua, where he lived. Because Chen Meilin had been present, Zhang Bo was unable to commit the crime that day. During the period, Zhang Bo contacted Ye Mou on WeChat many times, Ye asked Zhang Bo to leave Xiaoxue overnight, and Zhang said that he was looking for an opportunity to pick up Xiaoxue next week.
On November 1, Xiaoxue stayed at Zhang Bo's home in Huafu, Jinjiang. Because his mother was at home, Zhang Bo did not commit a crime and drove to the Longevity District to meet Ye Mou. At about 10 a.m. the next morning, Zhang Bo returned to his home in The Huafu of Jinjiang and committed a crime in the afternoon.
Because the girlfriend "can't accept the fact that she has children"
After learning the truth, Chen Meilin once fell into despair. She did not dare to imagine how the father of the child could get his hands on it, why her former lover was so cruel, "three years is really not enough to understand a person." ”
In 2017, 26-year-old Chen Meilin met Zhang Bo, who was three years younger than her, through friends. Zhang Bo came out to work after graduating from primary school, at that time working in a small loan company, in the eyes of Chen Meilin, he was smart, motivated, responsible, very good at taking care of people, and was a good guy.
Half a year later, Chen Meilin became pregnant. At that time, she was still in the ascendancy of her career, and when she hesitated between her children and work, Chen Meilin was touched by Zhang Bo's words, and the two quickly got a license to get married.
However, with the arrival of the child, the relationship between the two became tense. In March 2018, Chen Meilin gave birth to her daughter Xiaoxue, and became pregnant again four months later. Worried that the body will have an unexpected condition, Chen Meilin plans to have an abortion, but the doctor mentioned that the 3-month-old baby has been formed, and she hesitates. Eventually, the family decided to keep the child.
After getting married, Zhang Bo and his friends co-founded a company, often busy seeing customers, eating, working overtime, and always addicted to the Internet and games after returning home, and almost did not care much about children, and even did not change diapers, and did not take the initiative to hold children. His son Xiaorui contracted pneumonia shortly after his birth, and the doctor even issued a critical illness notice, and Zhang Bo was unable to accompany him throughout the whole process.
"I also communicated with him, even quarreled, but he always didn't care, didn't want to communicate, and felt like two people before and after marriage." Chen Meilin told China News Weekly that she also thought about divorce, but the other party did not agree. Considering that the two children are still young, she always comforts herself, maybe Zhang Bo is still young, maybe he is not working well, maybe he will understand things when he is old.
But in April 2019, three months after the birth of his son Xiaorui, Zhang Bo took the initiative to file for divorce. After several failed attempts, in February 2020, Chen Meilin and Zhang Bo agreed to divorce. According to the agreement between the two parties, the eldest daughter Xiaoxue is raised by the woman and her parents, and the son Xiaorui is temporarily raised by the man, and then raised by the woman after finishing kindergarten. In addition, the man needs to pay 800,000 yuan in child support.
Chen Meilin recalled that after Zhang Bo filed for divorce, she took her daughter back to her parents' house, and her son was taken care of by Zhang Bo and her mother-in-law. Since then, Zhang Bo has rarely gone home for the night, which has also blocked all her contact information. Soon, a new girlfriend appeared in his circle of friends, it was Ye Mou, who was the same age as him.
The indictment shows that around April 2019, Zhang Bo filed for divorce from Chen Meilin on the grounds of emotional incompatibility, and after meeting with Ye, he concealed his identity as a married and child to pursue Ye. Around August of the same year, Zhang Bo and Ye privately established a romantic relationship, and at the end of the same year, Ye learned that Zhang Bo had a child and continued to communicate with him.
In February 2020, after Zhang Bo and Chen Meilin agreed to divorce, Ye repeatedly told Zhang Bo that he and his parents could not accept the fact that he had children. If Zhang Bo had a child, she could not be with Zhang Bo, and the two then conspired to kill the child.
"Hope the two are sentenced to death"
After losing her child for more than half a year, Chen Meilin rarely went out, was not in the mood, and was afraid of seeing other children. In the past, she used to take her children out to play every weekend, and on social accounts, she shared her baby's happy moments every few days. Today, she can only look at the photos and videos left by the child and wash her face with tears, "Choosing you who have nothing, you took half my life and made me lose the two most important people in my life." 」 ”
Chen Meilin remembered that when Zhang Bo contacted her through her mother a week before the incident, she mentioned that she missed Xiaoxue very much, so she wanted to buy her clothes. At that time, Chen Meilin thought that Zhang Bo's conscience had found out, remembering that he was still a father, but her mother was alert and told her to look after her daughter.
When Zhang Bo proposed to leave his daughter to spend the night at home, he also proposed the same idea. "He said he wanted his sister to play with his brother a little more, and he wanted to spend more time with his daughter, and asked me if this request was too much."
Previously, Chen Meilin had never let her daughter spend the night at Zhang Bo's house, she was worried about her daughter crying, and she was afraid that her mother-in-law would be difficult to take care of 2 children, and Zhang Bo had no experience with children. Only that day, she remembered that her daughter had mentioned that she missed her father in particular, but she didn't know who her father was, which made her feel sad.
No one expected that Zhang Bo used "love" as an excuse to find opportunities and end the lives of his two children. "The kids are standing by the window, they're absolutely scared, they just don't know, the next second it's Dad who throws them down."
On November 10, 2020, after the South Bank Branch of the Chongqing Municipal Public Security Bureau arrested Zhang Bo and Ye Mou, on November 11, the two were criminally detained on suspicion of intentional homicide. On December 14 of the same year, with the approval of the South Bank District People's Procuratorate, the two were arrested by the South Bank District Public Security Bureau the next day.
On March 18 this year, the Fifth Branch of the Chongqing Municipal People's Procuratorate filed a public prosecution, holding that Zhang Bo and Ye Mouchen had jointly intentionally killed people, resulting in the death of the two people, and should be investigated for criminal responsibility for intentional homicide. On July 26, 2021, the Chongqing Fifth Intermediate People's Court will hear the case.
"Don't make reparations, I hope the two of them will be sentenced to death." Chen Meilin said.
