Chrysler Grand Jaylon PHEV recalled nearly 20,000 vehicles due to the risk of fire

Tramway news: Recently, according to foreign media reports, after receiving 12 vehicle fire reports, Chrysler's parent company Stellantis will recall 19808 plug-in hybrid small vans and urge car owners to suspend charging vehicles.

The company said the models affected by the recall are the 2017-2018 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid. In 12 fire incidents, all vehicles were parked at a standstill, with 8 of them connected to a charging device at the time of the fire. Of all the vehicles affected by the recall, 16,741 were from the United States, 2,317 from Canada, and 750 from other countries. Stellantis said they had not received any reports of injuries or accidents related to the issue.

Stellantis advises car owners to pause charging vehicles and park them away from buildings and other cars. The company said it was working to confirm the cause of the fire and said owners could continue to use internal combustion engines to drive the vehicle until the problem was fixed. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) declined to comment on that.

In addition to Stellantis, some other car companies have also encountered the problem of fire in plug-in hybrid vehicles or pure electric vehicles. GM previously suspended production of the Chevrolet Bolt model due to a battery fire, which has not resumed production until now. Last August, GM expanded its recall for Bolt to 140,000 vehicles and announced replacement of battery modules for all vehicles. At the same time, GM also stopped sales of Bolt models indefinitely.
