Mexican Art (three volumes) was published to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Mexico

The art of Mexico, an ancient civilization with a long history in the Western Hemisphere, is a priceless treasure in the spiritual wealth of mankind. However, as one of the most important artistic powers in the world, Mexican art has never had a complete and in-depth monograph introduction on the mainland.

Mr. Xing Xiaosheng traveled throughout Mexico, through many field visits, personally photographed the ruins and monuments, and measured the whole process of the evolution of Mexican art history with his footsteps. He had in-depth conversations with contemporary artists and art historians, and fully grasped the first-hand materials. On this basis, Mr. Xing completed Mexican Art (three volumes) with the exposition and unique perspective of Chinese scholars, narrating from a historical point of view, and commenting slightly from an aesthetic point of view. In this way, it comprehensively displays the strange brilliance of Mexican art and highlights its immeasurable artistic value and importance in the history of world art.

Xing Xiaosheng (1938-2020), a scholar of Western art history, began to work on foreign art introduction in 1981. He has long studied Western art. Later, he was invited to visit more than ten countries in Europe and the United States for investigation and lecture. He has been interested in Latin American art since 1985 and has visited Latin America twice, building relationships with multinational art institutions and art professionals. In 2000, Xing Xiaosheng was elected as a corresponding member of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando, Spain. His major works include "Contemporary World Art Masters and China", "Buddell on Art and Life", "Spanish Painting" (upper, middle and lower), "Christian Sacred Genealogy", "Modern Latin American Figurative Art" and so on.

This set of books is divided into three volumes, the upper, middle and lower volumes, and the exposition parts of each volume are presented in the form of pictures and texts. The plate section shows a large number of high-definition pictures, the vast majority of which were taken by the author himself.

The first volume (antiquity) deals with the artistic development and mutual influence of the various ethnic groups of The Ancient Indians before Columbus's arrival in the Americas, either before or roughly juxtaposed. The middle volume (Colonial Era) tells the story of how the national elements of indigenous art merged with the collision during the 300 years that Mexico became a Spanish colony, under the pressure of foreign cultural domination, and how some special and interesting artistic products were produced. The analysis of the glorious and innovative period of post-independence Mexican art in the great awakening of national consciousness in the next volume (Modern and Contemporary) shows the many factors and specific achievements of modern and contemporary Mexican artists who have achieved world-shocking artistic achievements.

Mexican Art (Three Volumes) is the only rare Western art history monograph compiled by Chinese scholars. The publication of this set of books will promote the spread of brilliant Mexican art in China to a certain extent, highlight the friendly cultural exchanges and cooperation between China and Mexico, and write a new chapter for Sino-Mexican art exchanges.
