The International Court of Arbitration for Sport rejected the appeals of the International Olympic Committee and others, allowing Valieva to participate in individual competitions at the Winter Olympics

The International Court of Arbitration for Sport announced at 14:00 Beijing time on February 14 that the court rejected the appeal of the International Olympic Committee, the World Anti-Doping Agency and the International Skating Union against the Russian figure skater Camilla Vallieva. Vallieva was allowed to compete in individual competitions at the Winter Olympics.

During the Russian Figure Skating Championships held last December, the Russian Anti-Doping Agency conducted anti-doping tests on Valiyeva. On February 8, the results of a laboratory test certified by the World Anti-Doping Organization were released, and testers found the illicit drug trimetazidine from the samples collected from it. On the same day, the Russian anti-doping agency temporarily suspended Vallieva, which took effect immediately, automatically prohibiting her from participating in all competitions, including the Beijing Winter Olympics, during the temporary ban period.

On February 9, Vallieva appealed to the Disciplinary Committee of the Russian Anti-Doping Agency, which subsequently decided to lift the temporary ban on Vallieva and allow her to continue to participate in the Beijing Winter Olympics.

The International Doping Agency then said it would appeal to the International Court of Arbitration for Sport on behalf of the IOC and would need to make a decision before Vallieva's next match, the Figure Skating Women's Singles Match on Feb. 15.

On February 11, the International Court of Arbitration for Sport said it had received appeals from the International Olympic Committee and the World Anti-Doping Agency against Russia's anti-doping agency for canceling Vallieva's interim ban.

The Court of Arbitration for Sport concluded its hearings on Vallieva's arbitration proceedings in the early hours of February 14. Representatives from the International Olympic Committee, the World Anti-Doping Agency, the International Skating Union, the Russian Anti-Doping Agency, the Russian Olympic Committee and Vallieva herself attended the hearing. The notice said that the arbitral tribunal will issue a decision against Vallieva around 2 p.m. Beijing time on February 14.
