During the 2022 Lantern Festival, artist Qiu Zhijie's new series of "Writing Plans" - "Enigma Confidence - Yongqingfang Shangyuan Lantern Festival" will be presented in Yongqingfang, Guangzhou, in dialogue with the traditional festival culture of Xiguan. The exhibition is presented in a flash mob format and lasts for five days.
Guangzhou has a history of more than 2,200 years and is also the oldest foreign trade port. After the economic prosperity has accumulated and precipitated over time, Guangzhou culture has its regional uniqueness. "Xiguan", as a gathering place of merchants and literati of "Department Store, City of Five Capitals", is a condensation of the prosperity of Guangzhou City, and with the development and construction of the city, a unique Xiguan architectural style characteristics, literati and cultural stories have been formed, retaining the memory and personality of Guangzhou City. The second stop of the "Writing Plan" will be landed in the area of the former site of Xiguan, which has a great cultural heritage, and will be carried out in the Yongqingfang Block of Enning Road, a gathering place for buildings such as the Arcade Building, The Xiguan House and the Green Brick Lane, and have a deep dialogue with the historical culture and festival folklore of old Guangzhou through traditional calligraphy art installations.

This exhibition is jointly presented by Guangzhou Yongqingfang and Beijing Mengbian Culture. The exhibition space will run through the east and west blocks of Yongqingfang and be divided into multiple groups of lantern art installations. The artist guides the audience into the art installation in a "dialogue" manner, and approaches the audience with different forms of new flower lanterns. In the process of walking in the old neighborhood, feel the romance of Shangyuan lanterns, awaken young people's thinking about traditional folklore, and explore the relationship between people and the city, art and space.
Qiu Zhijie is a famous artist and curator. Creative activities involve calligraphy, ink painting, photography, video, installation, theater and other methods. He represents a new attempt to communicate the Chinese literati tradition with contemporary art, to communicate social care and the power of personal liberation of art. He is currently the Dean and Professor of the School of Experimental Art of the Central Academy of Fine Arts, and the Professor of the School of Cross-media Art of the China Academy of Art. The Qiu Zhu Shangyuan Lantern Project is a large-scale comprehensive art project. Starting from the Ming Dynasty's Shangyuan Lantern Color Map, it includes a series of art forms such as writing, painting, installation and theater performance. "Shangyuan Lantern Color Map" is a precious ancient city custom painting, painted by a famous painter, the painting depicts the scene of the street market during the Lantern Festival in Nanjing during the Ming Dynasty, and the colorful lanterns in the painting create a lively atmosphere during the Spring Festival.
