In the race, Shang Jincai, the first bartender of the Chinese team, adopted a follow-up tactic at the beginning of the game, and began to overtake after 5 kilometers, ranking 12th when handing over the baton. The second sticker Liu Rongsheng slid steadily in the first half, and the physical fitness in the second half declined significantly, and was surpassed by other players, and the ranking slipped to 14th. The third stick Wang Qiang began to catch up with his speed, but failed to achieve overtaking. Chen Degen, who was the most baton, was already in a backward position when he took the bat, he slid hard and tried to catch up, but when he hit the 36.6 km timing point, he was prematurely out of the leading athlete's snare to end the race, and finally finished 13th. The gold medal was won by the Russian Olympic Committee team in 1 hour 54 minutes 50 seconds 7 seconds.

According to the rules, in the men's 4×10 km relay, each team has 4 athletes participating, and each team is required to use traditional techniques for the first two sticks and free technology for the last two sticks. The race follows a collective starting principle, with relay races between team players and team racing competitions similar, with the last team in each team winning first through the finish line.
