The 1964 film "Young Luban", based on Li Ruihuan, tells the story of young construction worker Li Sansheng's research on alternative carpentry "enlarged samples". Li San's generation was born into poverty, and before liberation, three generations of his family lived by asking for food, and named him "Three Generations". Due to the low level of education, I often feel overwhelmed at work. He participated in the night school study, the construction site technician and night school instructor Qin Shuzhen told the three generations to go to the blackboard to calculate the score calculations, calculated for a long time, anxious three generations sweated, still did not calculate. Qin Shuzhen blamed the third generation for not listening carefully.
In fact, the third generation of Li was really wronged. Mathematics is a science, and in the early years, workers did not have the opportunity to contact it, thinking that it was an unattainable science and did not dare to ask for it. After liberation, with the needs of national construction, young workers urgently need to improve their cultural level and master scientific knowledge. Li Sanshi is one of thousands of young workers, and he is eager to learn culture and apply cultural knowledge to production. However, due to the poor cultural foundation, there is a certain distance between him and mathematics, and to eliminate this distance, it is necessary to have a 100-meter rush.

The construction team undertook the task of erecting columns in the main structure of the factory building, requiring completion at the end of the month, Li Sansheng wanted to reform the carpentry "amplification" technology, because he neglected to learn technical experience from the old workers, the experiment failed, and he accidentally fell off the building frame. Afterwards, Li Sansheng took the initiative to take responsibility at the accident inspection meeting. He was transferred to the construction site of the northern fertilizer plant, continued to study while studying, put forward innovative suggestions, and successfully created a calculation table, replacing the traditional "enlarged sample", which was recognized and praised by experts. The three generations of Li and Qin Shuzhen gradually deepened their understanding and feelings, and sincerely loved each other.
"Young LuBan" is written and directed by Shi Daqian, the son of the great director Shi Dongshan, and Li Sansheng is played by Bi Jianchang, who is a junior at the Beijing Film Academy. The son of the old Red Army, Bi Jianchang was born in 1939 in Rongcheng, Shandong Province, and was admitted to the acting department of the Beijing Film Academy in 1960. After reading the script, Bi Jianchang was impressed by Li Sansheng, put on his back to the construction site to experience life, eat and live with the workers, and participate in technological innovation. After the hit "Young Luban", Bi Jianchang quickly became popular and was naturally assigned to the Beijing Film Studio to become a professional actor. The film was also adapted into a comic strip.
The image of a loyal, simple, sunny, and heroic new-age worker was the most popular type on the screen at that time, and the prototype was Li Ruihuan. In September 1934, Li Ruihuan was born in Chenjiakou Village, Huogezhuang, Baodi, Tianjin, and when he was a child, he pulled a plough, planted land, drove a car, and knitted cloth. In 1951, at the age of 17, Li Ruihuan went to Beijing to work as a small worker, learn carpentry, and later became a worker at the Beijing Third Construction Company.
Like the plot in the movie "Young Luban", in reality, Li Ruihuan reformed the "enlarged sample". In the past, when carpentry was making complex objects, he first had to lay a wooden board of several square meters or even larger on the ground, ask the teacher to enlarge the small sample on the drawing to the wooden board, and then work according to the gourd painting scoop, which is the "enlarged sample". As the saying goes: "Lofting technology is unattainable, do not enlarge the sample unless Luban." "This traditional technique can only be mastered by experienced teachers.
Li Ruihuan thought, if you no longer use "enlarged samples", then wouldn't it be simple to work? An engineer told him that if he mastered the mathematical knowledge of trigonometry, geometry, and algebra, it would be possible to deduce it, and there was no need to "enlarge the sample". Li Ruihuan began to teach himself. In 1958, he entered the Department of Industrial and Civil Architecture of The Yu Institute of Jiangong in Beijing, working on the construction site during the day and cycling to school dozens of miles away at night.

In 1958, the Great Hall of the People was built, and the building structure was very complex, with large reinforced concrete columns with a diameter of 2 meters and a height of more than 40 meters, reinforced concrete girders with a height of 9 meters and a length of 32 meters, steel roof trusses with a span of more than 60 meters, and large steel beams weighing 141 tons. The workload of the decoration project is also particularly large, only marble, granite, terrazzo, chopping axe stone, etc. there are more than 170,000 square meters. Workers braved the snow to stand on scaffolding at a height of 33 meters and poured reinforced concrete columns and beams at the entrance of the auditorium. A considerable number of people participating in the construction of the Great Hall of the People are young skilled workers, and among those in their 20s, there are seventh- and eighth-level workers.
The Great Hall of the People Engineering Command gave the "Carpentry Youth Commando" of the Beijing Third Construction Company an urgent task to make a 200-meter-long roof eaves template within eight days. Li Ruihuan, the leader of the commando team, knew that it was inconvenient to find a large area of open space to enlarge the sample, and worked out a set of simple carpentry calculation methods, and finally solved this problem. On September 24, 1959, the Great Hall of the People was successfully built at an unprecedented speed of more than ten months through the efforts of more than 14,000 builders. In 1960, Li Ruihuan was named a model worker, and his story was published in the Beijing Daily.
In 1965, Li Ruihuan served as deputy secretary of the party committee of Beijing Building Materials Supply Company and secretary of the general branch of the party of Beijing Construction Timber Factory, in 1981 he was appointed vice mayor of Tianjin, and later served as the secretary of the municipal party committee and mayor, he did a lot of things for Tianjin: luan into Tianjin, the central ring line, the ancient culture street, the Nanshi food street, the hotel street, the city's gas pipeline, etc. To this day, tianjin people mention this old mayor, so that they will never forget it.
