Toshiba's 2021 hard drive shipments increased by 4% to a total capacity of 187.24EB

IT Home February 12 news, Toshiba Electronic Components and Storage Co., Ltd. ("Toshiba") recently announced that in 2021, hard disk shipments and shipments increased by 4% and 61%, respectively, with total shipments reaching 54.68 million units and a capacity of 187.24 EXB. Nearline, enterprise-class performance hard disks, built-in hard disks/consumer electronics hard disk product shipments and shipment capacity increased steadily, of which nearline hard disk shipments rose by 73% and shipment capacity increased by 114%. In addition, Toshiba's single-quarter nearline hard drive shipments in the fourth quarter of 2021 also hit a new high, exceeding 2.9 million units, and the total shipment capacity reached 33.93 EXB, an increase of more than 94% over the same period last year.

IDC Research said that Toshiba Technology, including magnetic energy control-microwave assisted recording technology (FC-MAMR) and resonant microwave-assisted recording technology (MAS-MAMR), can further strengthen its competitiveness in the near-line hard disk drive market.

Toshiba currently offers a comprehensive portfolio of hard drives, including enterprise, data center, surveillance, and client market storage. The Toshiba AL Series focuses on the enterprise performance market; the MG Series targets enterprise capacity and data center needs; the MQ Series covers a wide range of applications requiring HDDs for mobile clients; and the DT Series addresses applications for monitoring and built-in storage.
