Located in Guxi Town, Taixing City, the Oriental Zen Temple was built in the late Tang Dynasty and flourished in the second year of Song Jiayou (1057 AD), after several booms and busts.
In the 20th year of Qing Jiaqing (1820 AD), the believers of the four parties donated funds to rebuild, and a total of 99 and a half rooms were built, and the scale was extremely large. In the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, the main hall and some of the halls were destroyed by war, and the remains of the ancient temple in the ten years of turmoil were destroyed, leaving the ancient stele of the "Oriental Zen Temple".
The Oriental Zen Temple has left the world not only a thousand-year-old temple, but also a legend that has been passed down for thousands of years, such as Dongyue Xiansheng Jingjiang City, Zhang Wang Xiansheng Qiankun Town, and the Punishment God Horse Nail Iron Palm.
In order to excavate cultural resources, carry forward history and culture, and build a cultural brand of Guxi, in October 2000, Guxi Town reported that with the approval of relevant units, it was decided to restore and rebuild the Oriental Zen Temple.
So far, the temple has built an area of 16 acres, and the reconstruction of the Shanmen Hall, the Heavenly King Hall, the Jizo King Hall, the Medicine King Hall and the Daxiong Treasure Hall has been completed. The newly built Longxi Park in front of the temple has also begun to take shape, and the pavilions and pavilions have changed scenery step by step, becoming another scenery of the ancient temple.
On November 11, 2011, oriental zen temple successfully held the inauguration ceremony of the Daxiong Treasure Hall and the opening ceremony of the Buddha statue.
In the next step, Guxi Town will continue to accelerate the construction of the Oriental Zen Temple Scenic Area, build the Ten Halls of YamaWang Hall, the Bell and Drum Tower, the Tibetan Scripture Building, the God of Wealth Temple, the Guanyin Hall, the Ten Thousand Buddhas Pagoda and other scenic spots, and simultaneously build a health center, folk customs hall, etc., and strive to build the Oriental Zen Temple into a comprehensive tourism base that inherits Buddhist culture and integrates tourism, sightseeing and leisure health.
The Oriental Zen Temple was historically a provincial-level Dizang Temple, built in the second year of the Northern Song Dynasty, more than 1100 years ago. The ancient temple covers an area of 70 acres, with incense and fire, pleasant scenery and famous.
The ancient site of Oriental Zen is located in the current Guxi Middle School, destroyed during a special period of history, the relics of the temple were either discarded or left to the people (only stone tablets inscribed with the words "Oriental Zen Temple" are now collected), and the Oriental Zen Temple gradually disappeared into silence.
Letting the silent history and culture shine again has become the wish of many Guxi people, but for various reasons it has not been implemented.
At the turn of the century, the guxi town party committee and government widely solicited the opinions of the masses, planning to relocate the site to the northeast corner of guxi market town to restore the Oriental Zen Temple, which was approved by the relevant units in October 2000 and officially started in December of the same year. The New Oriental Zen Temple also "moved" Guxi's former "Yaowang Temple" (also known as Guangfu Temple).
The entire project covers a total area of 30 acres, the project is divided into three phases, is expected to be fully completed in 2006. In addition to the Shanmen Hall, the first phase of the project also includes the Hall of the Heavenly King, the Hall of the Medicine King and the Hall of the King of Jizo, and the Hall of the Heavenly King has been restored, and the Hall of the Medicine King and the Hall of the King of Jizo are working on the statues.
The entire Oriental Temple scenic area is divided into classical cultural area, religious culture area and purification spiritual area. The Classical Culture Zone plans to display classic works in Chinese cultural history such as "I Ching", "Analects", "Mencius", and concentrate statues of famous figures in Chinese history such as Jigong, Huatuo, and Guan Gong; the Religious and Cultural District is preparing to build 13-story pagodas, Mandarin Duck Pavilions, Huifeng Pavilions and other garden buildings, and also prepares to build a children's paradise, people's square, water playground and diving sports field on the south side of the Oriental Temple.
Abbot of Oriental Zen Temple, Ren Zhen, Zi Changxing, a native of Dongtai, Jiangsu Province, born in August 1974, college degree, in September 2000 under the tutelage of Master Qingyun of Taixing Qingyun Master Nenghui, the 48th disciple of The 48th disciple of The True Sect of Linji Sect of Yangzhou Daming Temple, is currently studying at Yangzhou Jian Zhen College, and is currently a member of the Standing Committee of the 13th Committee of the Taixing Municipal CPPCC, the vice president of the Taixing Buddhist Association, and the abbot of the Oriental Zen Temple in Taixing City.
