Shenzhen's "Our Festival" Lantern Festival kicks off this Sunday

"The fifteenth day of the first lunar month is the Lantern Festival, also known as the Shangyuan Festival, The New Night, and the Lantern Festival, which is one of the traditional festivals in China.

The Lantern Festival mainly includes a series of traditional folk activities such as viewing flower lanterns, eating tangyuan, guessing lantern riddles, etc., and the lantern festival customs are different in different places. The Lantern Festival in Shenzhen has both the inheritance of Hakka culture and the integration of Cantonese culture, and the festival culture is rich.

In order to fully excavate and display the historical background and cultural connotation of the Lantern Festival and cultivate the feelings of home and country, the 2022 Shenzhen "Our Festival and Lantern Festival" series of activities hosted by the Shenzhen Municipal Civilization Office, shenzhen publishing group Hongwen Media Co., Ltd. and Shenzhen Book City Central City will be held at 3:00 pm on February 13 (Sunday) in the multi-functional hall of the south district of the central book city, and will be broadcast live online at the same time.

The interview guest of this event was Nan Xiang, a professor at the College of Literature of Shenzhen University and a first-class writer, hosted by Wang Haidong, a famous host of Shenzhen Satellite TV.

The event will introduce the historical origin, development history and cultural connotation of the Lantern Festival, and based on Shenzhen, focusing on local folk customs such as Longgang Hakka Flower Lantern, Xiasha Village "Big Pot Dish", Songgang Street Seven Stars Lion Dance, Pingshan Dance Qilin and so on.
