Walking into the "Centennial Ice Frolic Festival" located in Beihai Park, the first thing that catches your eye is a very classic painting - "Ice Frolic Map". It is understood that its original works are collected in the Palace Museum. "Ice Play" depicts the Eight Flags disciples performing ice sports near Beihai Park during the Qing Dynasty , hanging aerial shooting. "Hanging" refers to the colored ball on the door, and "acting" refers to the eight flags disciples arranged in a gossip-shaped long dragon in turn, surrounding the arrows to shoot at the colored ball. Whoever shoots the most is the winner. This picture is very lively, and it also shows the fiery heat of ice play during the Qing Dynasty.

Ice Frolic was a military ceremony held on the ice of Tailiuchi (present-day Beihai, Zhonghai and South China Sea) during the winter season of Beijing in the Qing Dynasty. From Qianlong to Daoguang, it has been held for about 100 years. The project is both entertaining and competitive, showing a tendency to institutionalize and scale, and is a bright pearl in the history of competitive sports.

Jiangsu TV reporter Zhang He said: "With the decline of the Qing Dynasty, bingxiao, a court sport as a 'canonical system', no longer exists. After 1925, with the opening of Beihai Park, many people came to the park to play on the ice in winter. Through several historical data maps, it can be seen that in 1935 there was ice skating, and there were some skating competitions. Since then, ordinary people's activities playing on the ice can be called 'ice play'. ”

In addition to a large number of pictures and text materials, the exhibition site also uses sand tables, cultural derivatives, replica parts, animation videos and other forms to tell the unique cultural value of "Ice Frolic" from the perspectives of "tracing the origin of ice frolic", "historical context" and "integration of Chinese and Western ice sports", showing the close relationship between beijing's traditional ice sports and the ice and snow sports of the Winter Olympics being held.
