Ice Frolic, is a military ceremony held on the ice of Tailiuchi during the winter season of Beijing in the Qing Dynasty, from Qianlong to Daoguang, which has been held for about 100 years, with both entertainment and competitiveness, showing a tendency of institutionalization and scale, and is a bright pearl in the history of competitive sports, marking the peak of the development of traditional Chinese ice sports. The Ice Festival is a fusion of traditional governing concepts such as valuing national prestige and praying for heaven and time, rejoicing with the people, filial piety, educating with virtue, and cherishing the distance. The centennial ice frolic festival vividly shows the historical picture of ice sports in Beijing in the Qing Dynasty, and the rich ice and snow culture accumulation has built the humanistic heritage of Beijing to welcome the Winter Olympics.
