It originated in Norway and has been included in the competition since the first Winter Olympics in 1924. The jumping platform is divided into a standard platform and a large jumping platform, which is composed of a ski lift, a jumping area, a landing slope, and a stop area. Due to the difference in the angle of the ski jumping track and the lifting angle of the jumping end, as well as the difference in natural conditions such as temperature, snow temperature, wind direction, wind power and snow quality, only the best results were achieved in the ski jumping competition.

Ski jumpers are required to be equipped with equipment such as skis, ski boots, ski clothes, helmets, goggles and gloves. The length of a ski is usually an athlete's height plus 80 cm or height x 1.46 times.

How is this item graded? The K-point is the origin of the distance score, starting at 60 points, and then adding or subtracting points based on the actual jump landing point. The distance score plus the flight posture score, the departure goal score and the wind compensation score are the final scores of the contestants. The scores of the two rounds are added up to the final score.

The main factors that determine the performance of the competition are the speed of the taxi, the timing of the take-off, the direction of the take-off and the psychological quality of the players. Wind tunnel experiments have shown that the "V" shape can reduce wind resistance by 28% compared to the parallel of the snowboard, providing more lift. During the flight, the athlete can control the balance of the body by swinging his arm. Landing on the ground adopts a slightly curved leg posture similar to lunge, which can effectively reduce the powerful impact on the human body.

Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics ski jumping will be held at the National Ski Jumping Center in Zhangjiakou Division, resulting in a total of 5 gold medals, namely the men's individual standard platform, the women's individual standard platform, the men's individual big jumping platform, the men's team, and the mixed team.

The Chinese team won two women's seats and one men's seat, and male athletes Song Qiwu and female athletes Peng Qingyue and Dong Bing will compete in men's and women's individual events and mixed teams. Among them, the men's team big jump platform and mixed team standard platform event are the first time for the Chinese team to participate.

Ski jumping started late in China, but has developed rapidly in recent years. At the Winter Olympics, the number of participants and the number of events of the Chinese ski jumping team reached a record, including Peng Qingyue and Song Qiwu, two "post-00s" young generals. They entered the ski jumping team through cross-border cross-discipline selection, and they only had three or four years of contact with ski jumping.

As of February 11, three of the five gold medals in the Beijing Olympic ski jumping event have been decided, and the remaining two small events of the men's individual big jump and the men's team will be finalized on February 12 and February 14, respectively.
