Red Bull consultant Helmut Marko believes that changes to the 2022 F1 rankings will be limited, but Ferrari could win a game or two.

Marco predicts Ferrari will win a game or two in 2022

In order to bring the strengths closer to each other, allowing cars to follow closer and increase overtaking opportunities, F1 introduced a new set of rules for the 2022 season that will make the new cars look distinctly different from those on the 2021 track.

Ferrari are one of those poised to take advantage of these new rules and get back to the top of the competition, with they finished P3 in the constructors' standings for the 2021 season, behind Mercedes and Red Bull but with a clear advantage over McLaren.

The Ferrari team pinned their hopes for victory and title on themselves, and Marco has his own opinion on these ambitions. If any team is going to make considerable progress, he believes it will be Ferrari. Still, he expects that will only bring a few wins at most. Ferrari didn't win a single race in the 2021 season, but won pole position twice and finished on the podium five times.

In an interview, Marco said: "I don't think there will be any major changes in the balance of power on the track and maybe Ferrari will take another step forward and win a race or two. ”

Marco believes it will depend on the new Ferrari power unit and Red Bull has already heard some positive comments.

The new powerplant being developed by the manufacturer will use a new E10 fuel that contains 10 percent ethanol, whereas in the past, fleets could choose the bioident composition of the 5.75 percent biofuel needed to make up the blend.

"Improvements to their power installations are evident at the end of 2021, and from the analysis of what we've heard, they're also doing a good job with biofuels coming into effect in 2022," Marko said. ”
