SpaceX said through the official website on the 8th that after launching 49 satellites on Thursday (3rd), unfortunately, it encountered a serious geomagnetic storm the next day, which warmed the atmosphere and increased its density, causing the atmospheric resistance to rise sharply by 50%, resulting in the launch of the satellite can not successfully reach the established correct orbit.

In response to the crisis, SpaceX initially stated that the Starlink team directed the satellites into safe mode and performed "flanking flights" to reduce drag and effectively avoid geomagnetic storms, but it is estimated that as many as 40 satellites will re-enter or have entered the Earth's atmosphere.

Finally, SpaceX said there is no risk of these deorbited satellites hitting other satellites because they will burn and destroy when they re-enter the atmosphere, will not produce any space junk, and will not have any satellite debris falling to the ground.
