Multi-district sewage test positive, Huang Jinxing: The virus is spreading rapidly in Hong Kong, Kowloon and the New Territories

Huang Jinxing pointed out that in recent months, he will receive a "day" sewage monitoring report every day.

The fifth wave of the epidemic in Hong Kong broke out, and there were multiple transmission chains in the community. The Secretary for the Environment of Hong Kong, Wong Kam-sing, posted on social media platforms that the sewage surveillance jointly launched by the EPD and DSD and the University of Hong Kong can assist in various aspects of the fight against the epidemic, and the monitoring results of the whole of Hong Kong also show that the virus is spreading rapidly in different areas.

Wong Kam Sing said that in recent months, he will receive a "day" sewage monitoring report every day, including the Red Day of the Lunar New Year, colleagues and sampling undertakers have started their work early in the morning, arrived at dozens of monitoring points in different parts of Hong Kong to arrange and collect sewage samples, and rushed to the laboratory for treatment and detailed analysis at about noon.

Wong also pointed out that the daily reports received earlier showed that many "fixed points" and "tipping points" of sewage tested positive and were distributed in Hong Kong, Kowloon and the New Territories, including tracking the source of sewage through "tipping points" to tuen Mun, Sha Tin and other buildings. In analysing and considering various information and data, including the relevant results of a positive sewage test, the health authorities have decided that residents of several blocks in Tai Wai Mei Tin Estate, Tai Wai, Sha Tin will be subject to mandatory testing.

Wong stressed that EPD colleagues are not only responsible for coordinating the entire "sewage exploration", but also on the sixth night of the beginning of yesterday, more than 100 signatory colleagues set out to gather the mandatory testing and sampling stations of Mei Tin Estate Scenic Building, Mei Xiu Lou and Mei Chi Lou to assist in various work. He thanked the public for their support and understanding and cooperation with the test.
