Second-hand mobile phone numbers "break the leading edge", and the breakthrough is not in telecom operators

Recently, the various problems encountered by second-hand mobile phone numbers have been turned over by the media. For example:

Second-hand mobile phone numbers "break the leading edge", and the breakthrough is not in telecom operators

From the perspective of the media, as long as the operator does a good enough job, it can avoid the problems faced by the "second-hand number" and "continuation edge". In fact, this is wishful thinking.

When a large number of APPS require real-name authentication, and "mobile phone number + verification code" has become one of the cheapest and most convenient real-name authentication methods, if this number is used by others, various problems are inevitable.

1. Why should the number be delivered twice? Is it okay not to deliver?

A: This is not possible. Because the number resources are limited, operators cannot get new number resources without restriction, and when the utilization rate of existing numbers is not high enough, the state will not issue new number segments to operators. As the number of mobile phone numbers abandoned is increasing, and the proportion is increasing, operators must find ways to reuse these numbers.

2. What protections have the operators done?

A: After a number is deprecated, the operator will let it stay in the library for a long enough time and then put it back on the market, with a minimum time of three months in the library, and from the time the previous user gives up to the number is activated again, most of the intervals are more than one year.

3. Can the operator notify all apps of the user's cancellation number?

A: It's not possible. App is massive, active is the million level, due to various reasons, the number of deprecated is also massive, every day is also at the million level, the operator does not know which APP is registered with the mobile phone number.

4. Can we establish a deprecated number information sharing platform?

A: Wishful thinking. At present, hundreds of millions of mobile phone numbers have been abandoned, which APP will actively match this platform? And a few months later, the number is put into use again, and some numbers have been replaced by multiple owners, who maintains the timely accuracy of the information?

5. Is there a solution?

A: Yes. Take advantage of the "time difference" of the number quiet period provided by the operator. Strengthen the rules for secondary verification of APP numbers, when a number has not been used for more than three months, or when a new mobile phone is replaced, the secondary verification is initiated, and it can only enter after face or ID card recognition. At the same time, if the user finds that the number has been registered in an APP, there is a convenient way to unbundle the original registration information and then register a new user. These two points are not difficult for mainstream apps to do. For non-mainstream apps, providing a number cancellation process should become a basic requirement.

To solve the "broken edge" of second-hand mobile phone numbers, you can't rely on operators, and you can't rely on third-party agencies or xx platforms, you should start from the APP.

Addendum 1: I have used a real-name number for several years, and suddenly received text messages and phone calls during the New Year' Celebration, according to some people's thinking, who should notify the person who called me? This person makes calls, perhaps based on a phone address book added years ago, or on a business card issued by my ex or his ex.

Supplement 2: Speaking of the XX platform, what is currently used is that the number labeling platform, the phenomenon of wrong labeling and random labeling has always existed, and a third party has made a super platform on the mainstream number labeling platform, which seems to facilitate the phenomenon of wrong labeling and random labeling, and the actual situation is that only the parties know.
