Xin Yuling, the pioneer and founder of the thoracic surgery cause in New China. During the war, he fought alongside Bethune and rushed to the front line many times to treat the wounded. In the era of peace, he has long been committed to the creation and development of thoracic surgery in the mainland, and is the first person in human lung transplant surgery in the mainland, making breakthroughs in many aspects of thoracic surgery, and making outstanding contributions to the innovation and development of the mainland's health and health undertakings.

Xin Yuling, born in February 1921, joined the Party in July 1939, a native of Gaoyang, Hebei Province, former president of the China-Japan Friendship Hospital, director of thoracic surgery, and deputy to the Fifth National People's Congress. In 1939, Xin was sent to the Bethune medical team as a pharmacist. On the front line full of artillery fire, witnessing Bethune's refusal to retreat and calmly performing surgery for the wounded, Xin Yuling had the idea of studying medicine to serve the country. In 1956, after returning from the Soviet Union with an associate doctorate in medicine, Xin Yuling went to work at the Central Tuberculosis Research Institute (later renamed the Beijing Tuberculosis Research Institute) to form a thoracic surgery department. From 1958 to 1980, he led the training course, trained more than 1,000 backbone thoracic surgery technicians for the whole country, and guided more than 40 hospitals around the country to establish thoracic surgery. In 1970, Xin Yuling performed the first lung resection operation under anesthesia using a needle and needle, which caused a sensation in the medical community. He has performed more than 1400 cases of acupuncture and pulmonary resection, with a success rate of 98%. Acupuncture and anesthesia surgery has promoted the research of acupuncture analgesia principles in mainland China and contributed to the introduction of Chinese acupuncture therapy to the world. In 1979, Xin Washiling took the lead in carrying out two human lung transplants in China. At that time, only 42 cases were done in the world.

"My greatest wish in life is to be a good doctor and to be an 'immortal pine' under a shadowless lamp." Between 1954 and 2004, Xin completed more than 15,000 thoracic surgeries. He reluctantly left the clinic at the age of 89 because he could not stand. Xin Yuling won the titles of "National Model Worker" and "National Advanced Worker". On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, Xin Yuling, who was the same age as the party, was awarded the "July 1st Medal".
