Danyang has been known as "Danfeng Chaoyang" since ancient times, and legend has it that it is a descendant of the phoenix. The team known as the "Descendants of the Phoenix" and the "Art Caravan" is the Danyang Yunyang Art Troupe. Danyang Yunyang Art Troupe is an art group approved by the cultural department and registered by the civil affairs department; they have been sharpening a sword for ten years, unremittingly rehearsing the classic operas of the mainland for many years, practicing martial arts indoors and displaying them outdoors, and without any remuneration, they are willing and unrepentant and insist on sending plays to the countryside for the masses and sending plays to the masses, and they have really lived to learn from the old and sing to the old, literature and art have been publicized by the party, literature and art have served the masses, wherever they sing, the masses will be happy, and for more than ten years they have volunteered to perform dozens of performances for the masses every year So far this year, it has volunteered to perform hundreds of performances for the masses. Because of their hobbies and dedication, each literary and artistic volunteer in the team has a very professional basic skill of "reading, playing, sitting, and singing". It is understood that the Danyang Yunyang Art Troupe, represented by Danyang retired teacher Li Lianming, has a high-level creative team. In 2014, he created "Hairy-footed Son-in-Law" throughout Danyang's urban and rural areas, and won the first prize of the municipal opera creation in that year. In 2015, he also created the small Dan drama "Teasing" that praised The Historical Celebrity Tang Zhanwen of Danyang, and also created the scripts that the masses liked such as "Danyang Celebrity Praise", "Danyang is a Good Place", "Favorite", "Cotton Candy" and so on.
Zhu Liuyu of the art troupe won the second prize in the Jiangsu Provincial Vocal Competition for Middle-aged and Elderly Voices in 2015; won the second prize in the Zhenjiang Talent Competition in 2017; won the Jiangsu Five-Star Project Performance Excellence Award in 2018; and the art troupe was listed as an "Excellent Cultivation Team" by the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Culture in 2021.
On February 6, Li Lianming, head of the Danyang Yunyang Art Troupe, told reporters: "The art groups around us are mainly to inherit the art of opera, basically all of them are combined by retirees from all walks of life, there are very few young people in the team, the next step will be to consciously train young people to sing opera and love opera, and cultivate and pass on the opera talents who are about to be discontinued from generation to generation, so that the content of the rural stage is more colorful, so that the opera art will always be active on the vast rural stage."
