It is understood that the Winter Olympic torch is mainly divided into three parts: the outer streamer, the inner streamer and the hydrogen combustion device, which are jointly produced by a number of scientific research institutions and science and technology innovation enterprises. Among them, Nantong Gordon Auto Parts Technology Co., Ltd., located in Haimengang New Area, Nantong City, is mainly responsible for the assembly of outer streamers and the spraying of flame-retardant materials. The company is the "leader" in flame retardant and safety of domestic auto parts, recommended by the China Association of Automobile Industry and inspected and inspected by the Beijing Olympic Organizing Committee and the International Olympic Organizing Committee, and finally became the only enterprise to undertake the torch flame retardant project.

According to reports, "Feiyang" is the world's first use of "black technology" carbon fiber torch, its quality is only about 1/4 of steel, but the strength is 7 to 9 times that of steel. Huang Weijian introduced that the first problem faced by the team was how to perfectly stitch together two irregularly shaped embryos. After splicing, the interface is obvious, and the embryo of the carbon fiber weave is relatively rough, and it is necessary to repair the surface defects with a high-temperature patch as a whole, and then carefully polish it to make the torch smooth and flat, and finally use a high-tech manipulator to spray the special flame retardant paint that can withstand thousands of degrees of high temperature baking on the torch, and finally make the torch present the most perfect state when the flame is passed.

In the past, the spraying process used on auto parts allowed deviations of about 10 microns. The standard thickness of the torch coating is 5 microns, and the allowable deviation is within plus or minus 1 micron, which is a huge challenge. In order to meet the demanding standards of torch design requirements, the company conducted a new research and development of the spraying process, dozens of combustion tests, and finally quenched out a special process only for the torch.
