5nm+6nm two processes! The AMD RX 7000 graphics card is stable this time

AMD CEO Dr. Su Zifeng recently disclosed that the next generation of graphics cards based on RDNA3 architecture and Navi 3x core will be released at the end of this year, that is, RX 7000 series, and the next generation of Ryzen™ processors with Zen4 architecture and codename Raphael will be launched at the same time, that is, Ryzen 7000 series.

Now, an amD engineer responsible for the design of the infinite cache module, in his personal resume, disclosed that the AMD Navi 3x series OF GPUs includes three versions of Navi 31, Navi 32, and Navi 33, of which The Navi 31/32 will use both 5nm and 6nm manufacturing processes, and Navi 33 is a 6nm process.

This means that the Navi 31/32 is an MCM dual-chip package design, including the main chip of the core computing unit (5nm process), and the input and output, the connection part of the sub-chip (6nm), just like the small chip design of the Ryzen processor: CCD 7nm, IOD 12nm.

The Navi 33 is a single-chip design, because it is aimed at the low-end market, using a more mature and lower cost 6nm - the current Navi 24 has already used 6nm first.

The Navi 31 flagship core is expected to have a core area of about 800 square millimeters, integrate up to 15,360 stream processor cores, 256MB of unlimited cache, a frequency of about 2.5GHz, up to 256-bit 32GB of GDDR6 video memory, and consume 350-400W or even higher, and the performance is expected to reach 2.5 times that of the Navi 21 core.

In addition, the project is also involved in the AMD next-generation computing card Instinct MI300 project, which is manufactured in the same 6nm as the current MI200.

Interestingly, the engineer's resume quickly removed the relevant parts, instead verifying its authenticity again.
