The reunion that was lost and regained | Lu Baolei, a police officer investigating the Sun Zhuo case: We still have to work harder

The Paper's reporter Shao Ke

Lu Baolei often mentions such a scene: Chinese New Year's Eve night, the family who lost their children made a reunion dinner, and the family sat together and put a pair of dishes and chopsticks on a reserved empty seat.

The family began to pray for the lost child: "I hope you have a better life than your parents, the whole family has not given up on you, as long as the whole family still has a breath, they will find you." 」 After a while, the family cried again.

The Spring Festival, to some extent, has become a "torture" for the abducted families. Lu Baolei is a police officer in the criminal police detachment of the Shenzhen Municipal Public Security Bureau. Seeing that the separated families were suffering from pain, Lu Baolei felt the same way: "The fight against abduction is done from the conscience. ”

Since engaging in abduction in 2015, Lu Baolei has been involved in the recovery of more than 500 missing abducted children. Every time the abducted child and his biological parents confessed, he was thrilled, and he also used this as a spur to warn himself that there were still children who had not found their way home and had to work harder.

Lu Baolei is a "red man" who abducts and abducts. In 2021, Sun Zhuo, the son of Sun Haiyang, one of the prototypes of the movie "Dear", was recovered, and Lu Baolei was also one of the host police. In order to find Sun Zhuo, he and his comrades-in-arms have traveled hundreds of thousands of kilometers in the past few years, and Sun Haiyang affectionately called him "Bao Brother" and said that he was like a "brother".

The following is the content of the surging news reporter's dialogue with Lu Baolei:

"I was 'excited' when I heard the clue of the abduction"

The Paper: Tell us about your experience as a police officer.

Lu Baolei: In 1997, I transferred from the Armed Police Force and became a criminal police officer. In the beginning, he followed the old comrades to handle major cases such as kidnapping, robbery, and murder.

In March 2015, due to the adjustment of my job position, I began to take charge of abduction, and I fell in love with it. For more than 6 years, I have been involved in the recovery of more than 500 missing abducted children.

Some abducted families buy a cake every year on their children's birthdays, light candles, and pray for their children's blessings. They may be worse off eating cake than poison.

I have been working for 34 years now, and it is said that I can retire after 30 years of service, but I am not willing to retire. As soon as I heard the clue of the abduction, I was "excited", and every time I found a child, I felt that I had done a practical thing for the people.

The Paper: What is the daily work of the anti-abduction police?

Lu Baolei: When I go to work, I usually go to the office about half an hour in advance, open the computer after arriving at the office, and collect various intelligence clues, including the inside of my mobile phone. We have a total of more than 200,000 volunteers across the country, and there are caring people from all walks of life everywhere, and these caring people and volunteers will give us some new clues every day. We will check and verify these clues one by one to see if this clue is more certain. At the same time, we also have to verify the tasks assigned by our superiors and deal with some instructions related to abduction.

We have to receive requests for help from all over the country, almost every day. There are abducted children who look for their own relatives, and there are also parents who look for their children. Some of them watched TV and newspaper reports and asked for our help. In this regard, our practice in Shenzhen is that no matter where we turn out or where we are, as long as we come to us for help, we will give great support and help.

In the process of verifying the clues, valuable clues were found, and if it is a case in Shenzhen, we will immediately convene the comrades of the special case team to hold an emergency meeting, arrange tasks, travel on business, and arrest people. If it is a case in a different place, we will first compare the child's DNA, and after confirming that it is correct, we will notify the place of the crime, and then the two places will work together to solve the case.

"We must rely on the people's police"

The Paper: When did you come into contact with Sun Zhuo's case?

Lu Baolei: On the first day of the abduction, I put the case file on my desk. At that time, I found out the files of the unsolved backlog of cases over the years, about seventy or eighty, and I read the files of each case N times. These cases will be broken a few times a year, less and less, and now there are still a few cases left, which may be that the conditions are not very good.

Kidnapping is a love project, conscience work. Sometimes if you can't ask for a little thing, the child may lose the "key" to his way home. You have to carefully ask how old the child was abducted, how many brothers and sisters there were, what the nickname was, what he liked to eat, whether there were birthmarks on his body, whether there were any places of interest near the home, whether there were mountains, whether there were rivers, what was the one thing that I remembered the most, and so on.

There was once a kid in DNA who had been abducted for more than 20 years, and I approached him and said he was abducted, and he thought I was a liar and didn't believe it. He couldn't remember what his name was, or what his parents and brothers were.

I told him that when you were three and a half years old, you and your two brothers were playing a game on the second floor in front of a store, and you lost the trick and bit your brother in the ear. He listened and said, "Needless to say, it's true. After I bit my brother, my brother spanked me in the ass and I ran down the second floor. ”

After he ran down to the second floor that day, he was abducted by the traffickers, who had already targeted the children.

Some adoptive parents will instill this kind of thing in their children, saying that your biological parents don't want you, so we take you in. There are children who do not know that they have been abducted, and some who know that they have been abducted, and he does not know how to find his biological parents. It's actually very simple, you go to any public security bureau and say that you are a child of unknown origin who has been abducted. They will collect blood for you to find relatives, all over the country is free, there are many children who are embarrassed, afraid of people's jokes and will not go.

The Paper: Have you seen the movie "Dear"?

Lu Baolei: When I first took over the abduction, I watched this movie three times, I studied every detail of the movie, how the children were abducted, how the parents found the children, watching these parents is also very bitter, very tired, but basically nothing is gained.

You go all over the country alone to find a child like a needle in a haystack, the fastest and quickest way is to go to the local public security bureau and let the police help you find it, which is the fastest and most recent. Our public security is a point radiating to the whole country, if we say that there is a child here in Shenzhen, as soon as the investigation report is issued, we in Guangdong Province will immediately send it to every police station within a day, and it can also be sent to every jurisdiction, and it is the same throughout the country. You rely on your own strength is limited, you must rely on the people's police. We enter your information into our system, and once it is entered into our system, the entire country can see the anti-abduction police. Go to the local public security bureau, collect blood into the warehouse, the photos of the child when he was a child, how many photos to provide, the more you provide, the greater the hope for finding your family.

The Paper: What kind of contact have you maintained with Sun Haiyang over the years?

Lu Baolei: Sun Haiyang's case is just a typical case that we cracked, and our goal is to solve all cases. Every once in a while, such as two weeks or a month, I would summon the parents of abducted children to our office and introduce them to some new clues or ideas for handling the case, for example, every time we broke a case, we would make a summary, which case was somewhat similar to which case. Then people discuss with each other, let them participate in it, and gain their understanding. Let them feel that the public security police are very serious and very attentive to their cases, and have never given up.

Parents sometimes have some good ideas, we will also adopt, we are constantly groping, and constantly accumulating some experience. Sometimes some parents come to tell their pain, and at this time we have to learn to listen, tell them about our efforts and let them see, which is also a comfort to them.

The reunion that was lost and regained | Lu Baolei, a police officer investigating the Sun Zhuo case: We still have to work harder

Lu Baolei received the crowd who came to ask for help.

"There are still children who have not been found, we have to work harder"

The Paper: What are the main difficulties encountered in the process of cracking down on abduction?

Lu Baolei: The most difficult "three volt days" and "three nine days". In some areas, it often suddenly rains, and cars can slip when walking on mountain roads, and I have encountered many times. One person in the car with the steering wheel, several comrades in arms pushing the car next to it, if you are not careful, the car may slide into the ravine. Check the clues when it snows heavily in the north in the winter, and if you are not careful in driving, especially at night, you have no idea what the road looks like. We handled Sun Haiyang's case like this, and we ran hundreds of thousands of kilometers for this case. On the day of the arrest of the suspect, it was snowing heavily, and at night we went to the village to arrest people, all of them white, and the car drove into the field at once.

Others are probably misunderstandings. Once I found an abducted child, I called the child's biological father, and the child's father thought that I was a liar again, and opened his mouth to scold. I sent him a picture of the child and told him who the child looked like and where there was a birthmark on his body, and he believed me. I told him not to say that the whole society is not good because he has been deceived, and there are still many good people in the world. Sometimes when we find abducted children, they don't have the cost of going home, and we will pay for them to pay for the road, and there are often such things.

Another time, a kid who had been abducted for 27 years found me, and I contacted him and told him my name, my job title, and my siren. He said that if you were a real policeman, I would charge 200 yuan for the phone bill, and I would believe you, and I charged him nearly 1,000 yuan before and after. Because his adoptive parents were so good to him, he still didn't want to believe that he had been abducted, and we kept digging up traces of his childhood, learning from his biological parents that he had scars on his body when he was naughty, and so on. Later, he was willing to communicate.

Sometimes the child is found, but the child does not want to meet his biological parents, which is also painful.

The Paper: How many children have been found by the Shenzhen police since the "Reunion" operation was launched in 2021?

Lu Baolei: We have found more than 170 children.

This is first of all due to the fact that our Ministry of Public Security's Anti-Abduction Office coordinates the whole country, and under their unified command and deployment, if we encounter any difficulties related to abduction, the Ministry of Public Security will immediately coordinate with the police in other places to assist us in investigating or arresting. Under the leadership of the Ministry of Public Security, the "reunion" operation is a chess game in the whole country, and at the same time, many provinces can be mobilized to engage in a series of abduction-related cases. With the help of our comrades-in-arms all over the country, the handling of cases has often been smooth. There are also well-meaning people from all over the country, our volunteers, who will help us with enthusiasm and vigor. We should thank the leaders of the Ministry of Public Security and the Provincial Public Security Department, and thank the caring people and volunteers from all walks of life. There is also the development of science and technology, and the backlog of cases broken by children found this year is the largest in the past few years.

The Paper: Since you engaged in the fight against abduction, how do you feel about the work of fighting abduction?

Lu Baolei: Finding the child is the first step, and the second step is to hold all the suspects who abduct and sell the child accountable according to law.

Abduction is done from the conscience, and whenever the abducted child and the biological parents recognize their relatives, I feel the most deeply and the most excited. At the same time, this is also spurring us, there are children who have not been found, can not meet with their biological parents, we must work harder, from this case to learn lessons, sum up experience, as soon as possible to achieve the world without abduction.
