Poster Talk Issue 3: Andie MacDowell

Born April 21, 1958 in South Carolina, Andy McDowell, my favorite actress, first appeared in advertising as a model before being signed by a new York modeling agency in 1978. His acting career began in 1984, appearing in the film Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes, playing the role of Jenny, but due to its more serious southern accent, the film eventually removed her voice and found another voice voice; the following year, she appeared in the St. Elmo's Fire in "Seven Graduates" (the young Demi Moore can also be seen in the film). In 1989, he ushered in a turning point in his acting career, met the then-un-famous director Steven Soderbergh, and participated in his film Sex, Lies, and Videotape, which won the best film at the Cannes Film Festival that year, and really started Andy McDowell's long acting career.

In the 1990s, he starred in a number of classic films, and was selected by People magazine as one of the 50 most beautiful people in the world in 1991 and 2000, but after 2000, his acting direction shifted to the field of television movies and TV series, and after that, the best films are hard to find, most recently starring in the 2016 TV series Model Woman.

Now Andy McDowell lives an idyllic life, enjoys walking dogs and horses after filming, and often tweets, and likes to interact with fans on Twitter.

Andy McDowell, whose main work focused on the 90s, now recommends several classic films in which he starred. The following videos are in no particular order.

1 Sex, Lies, Videotape, 1989

Directed by Tiven Soderbergh, the film is exquisitely structured, exploring marriage, family, ethical relationships, desires, privacy, etc., which can be described as a relatively avant-garde film at the time, and it is also a model of small and broad, which won the best film at the Cannes Film Festival that year.

3 Angels Don't Defend, 1996

Directed by Nora Iven, directed by Andy McDowell, William Hurt (Oscar winner), and John Travolta (pulp fiction), it tells the story of The Mirror reporter Quinlan and his party who went to Iowa to look for an angel named Michael, and saw the so-called angel playing a disrespectful prodigal boy, but he was indeed an angel. John Travolta's disappearance can be seen dancing for a long time, and Andy McDowell himself sings the song Sittin' By The Side Of The Road (a reserved track from my mp3 in college). My personal collection, the Angel Undefended Michael American version poster, with Andy McDowell autographed at the top left.

4 "Green Card Romance", 1990

Directed by Peter Will and starring Andy McDowell and Gerald Depardieu (Big Nose Lover), the romantic comedy about a fake marriage cheating green card was also Gerald Depardieu's first film in Hollywood and won him the 48th Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Motion Picture Category – Musical Comedy. I was very impressed with this film, which should have been broadcast when CCTV6 was first established, and its trailer was played repeatedly at that time. Its video interlude I'll Make Love to You is well worth listening to.

5 Groundhog Day, 1993

Directed by Harold Remis and starring Andy McDowell and Bill Murray (Lost in Tokyo). What if you were to repeat the same day? Check out this movie and you'll get the answer. This film is a film I highly recommend, it is indeed a rare edutainment film, life can have different possibilities, if you feel bored in life, you can watch this film, every time you watch it, there will be a different revelation. This film I first watched when I was in college, it should be after the psychological counselor exam, watched in the Internet café opposite the school, and suddenly felt enlightened after watching it.
