"I won the world championship and it may look like 0.01 seconds now"

Who has explored a scientific "indigenous method" to train Chinese team members according to the training plans of famous foreign players?

Who won the bronze medal in the severe pain of the meniscus completely shattered, and finally triumphed in a wheelchair?

Who practices the "migratory bird skating" training plan, where the first cold will go where to skate, cold can not stand and then the next stop?

BAZAAR sincerely paid tribute to these "icebreakers" of China's sports industry at the scene of "China Ice and Snow Legend", who used breakthroughs and transcendences to light up the speed skating track, while witnessing the rise and take-off of China's power.

"I won the world championship and it may look like 0.01 seconds now"

Speed skating is by far the fastest sport that humans can achieve by relying on human beings. As early as the early days of the founding of New China, China had its own first generation of speed skaters; in the 1960s, speed skating put China on the top of the world.

The first batch of sun Xianqi coaches who studied in the Soviet Union found the training clues of the speed skating world champions and explored a set of scientific "native methods" to train, and the result really cultivated the world champions.

Luo Zhihuan, Wang Shuyuan and Wang Jinyu, the first generation of speed skaters practiced wild ice in winter and riding in summer; fell into the ice cave and climbed up on their own; by straddling the 28 big bars, traveling 170 kilometers a day to practice physical fitness, and by pulling 20 kilograms of kettlebells to practice curves to surpass.

In the past 70 years, China's speed skating program has gone through a journey of exhaustion.

Ye Qiaobo

Runners-up in the women's 500 m and 1000 m speed skating competitions at the 1992 Winter Olympics in France

At the 1994 Norwegian Winter Olympics, women's 1000m speed skating was third

Ye Qiaobo wrote in his diary on January 2, 1990: "The glorious mission forced me to jump on the back of a tiger, and I love this line. ”

At the 16th Winter Olympics in 1992, Ye Qiaobo created history and won the first medal for the Chinese delegation since participating in the Winter Olympics, achieving a breakthrough of zero! In 1994, in order to make a last attempt before retiring, she preferred to give up one leg and continue her Olympic dream.

"I don't want this leg, I can throw my life on the ice rink, at all costs!" (At the 1994 Winter Olympics) it was a completely self-absorbed, distraction-free state. Ye Qiaobo recalled. By then her meniscus had been completely shattered, and she dragged a scarred sick leg to save a bronze medal in 1,000 meters of speed skating for China at the Norwegian Winter Olympics. With the iron will of a soldier and the fighting spirit of athletes, she has forged a generation of legends and created the "Qiao Bo Spirit" that inspired many Chinese people in the 90s.

Zhang Hong

Speed skating women's 1000m champion at the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics

Zhang Hong won China's first Olympic gold medal in speed skating and witnessed earth-shaking changes in China's national strength, technology and training technology. "Speed skating is a very lonely race, because when you stand on the track, you are actually ranked by time, so the person you have to win is yourself." Zhang Hong said: "This is the 'zero chance' characteristic and cruelty of speed skating.

At first, Zhang Hong specialized in short-track speed skating, due to the excessive intensity of training, the most serious time was "11 months without menstruation period, of the 12 physiological indicators of normal people, I had 11 lower than ordinary people; at that time I was only 20 years old... My mom went crazy and said that even if my child wasn't an athlete, she wasn't even a normal person now. ”

Later, a coach asked her: "Would you like to try speed skating?" This sentence ignited the last small flame in Zhang Hong's heart, which is the only way to persist in sports career. She began to switch events and spent three years studying speed skating.

Before the Sochi Winter Olympics, Zhang Hong did not have much mental burden: "My advantage is that my mentality is particularly good... If you want to think about a lot of things, you can't focus on the game. "She was completely focused on her own track and finally skated out of her best result in so many years and won the title in one fell swoop.

In 2015, Zhang Hong served as the image ambassador for China's Bid for the Winter Olympics; in 2016, she ushered in the peak of her individual sports career, winning five world championships in her weak 500 meters the year, and also creating her own momentary speed. Now she serves on the IOC Athletes' Committee and continues to contribute to ice and snow sports.

Luo Zhihuan

China's first world champion in speed skating

1963 Speed Skating World Championships 1500m Champion

In 1963, the Chinese team went to Japan to participate in the World Championships, from visas to training, many aspects made Luo Zhihuan feel the discrimination Chinese. The Chinese players all held their breath and decided to compete on the ice rink.

Before the final, facing the 1.90-meter-tall competitor and world famous Ivar Mo, Luo Zhihuan was a little nervous; at this time, coach Sun Xianqi shouted: "Zhihuan! See what's on your chest, what's on your chest? ”

"Just this, just this dress," Luo Zhihuan said, with the two big characters of "China" and the national emblem clear on his chest: "I know what it means, I know to win glory for it, and fight for it." In the first three laps, Luo Zhihuan was too hard to fight, and when he gradually lost his strength, his ears rang out, "Zhi Huan hurry up and sprint!" Sprint ahead! ”

"I listened and sprinted, swinging my arms, and I got to the finish line, one more piece than Ivar Mer. I won the world championship! "Luo Zhihuan made history. At the 1963 World Championships, speed skating put China on the top of the world. No one expected that China, which had just started, had actually created such a miracle! Since then, the names of Asians have also been written on the highest podium of the winter event.

Luo Zhihuan, who won the 1963 World Championships

Even though the training is very hard, Luo Lao still loves the sport of speed skating: "Skating on ice, like what? The sky is high for birds to fly, and the sea is wide for fish to leap. He has spent nearly 60 years with the race suit he wore when he first won the world championship; today in front of Bazaar's camera, Luo Lao's face is still full of pride when he takes pictures in his race suit.

Sun Xianqi

Meritorious coach of speed skating

In the 1960s, Sun Xianqi became one of the first coaches to study in the Soviet Union. During his study abroad, he became friends with many world champions; there, he saw advanced training methods and learned about the annual training program of the Soviet national team.

In that era of scarce materials, as the earliest speed skater, Sun Lao was once the creator of the national record, but in the Soviet Union, he could not even meet the standards of a third-level athlete. "And the Soviet Union is all-round there is a gap, too big. I will definitely train us China to be a world champion. ”

Sun Xianqi adapted to local conditions and really developed many advanced training plans. "For example, bicycles, at the beginning we trained 25 kilometers, then a little bit of 50 kilometers, (and) increased to 100 kilometers, 150 kilometers, (Luo Zhihuan, Wang Jinyu) the training they two experienced, the highest class is 180 kilometers, this indicator far exceeds the training indicators of the Soviet national team."

"These children have suffered," Sun Xianqi said, in addition to the amount of exercise, there is also a risk of frostbite during winter training: "Frostbite was a common thing at that time. Today, at the recording site, the 90-year-old Sun Lao talked about the first generation of Chinese ice and snow athletes he had trained - these 80-year-old "children" who have made great contributions to China's sports cause, saying: "They are a business card representing China to the world. ”

Wang Shuyuan

Runner-up in the 1963 Speed Skating World Championships in 1000 meters

Wang Shuyuan is the first female player in China to win a world speed skating medal. There was a black spot on her face, a large blister that had been frozen from the skating, and the coach rubbed the snow for her, and the skin was red. "It can't change now, it's black."

In the final of the Speed Skating World Championships in 1963, the group with Wang Shuyuan was the Soviet union star Merova, the world champion of the previous year; her height was 1.79 meters, and Wang Shuyuan's height was 1.60 meters. Before the game, Merova condescended to pat Wang Shuyuan on the head and say something like encouragement. When shouting "everyone is in place", Wang Shuyuan suddenly thought that I was Chinese, why did you pat me on the head, so I went up to her back and patted her ass, saying that you also cheered. "I thought you had something great about it, you just couldn't beat the world, but you had to win the championship in Asia, and that was the mood at the time." Wang Shuyuan smiled and recalled.

When the final started, "overseas Chinese are holding small national flags there shouting China, China, my mood is very very excited, invisibly do not know where the momentum comes from, I will drum up, desperately slide, is already sliding to the extreme, exhausted!" I won the world championship, only a little bit, maybe now it looks like 0.01 seconds. She was third, I was second. ”

In this way, Wang Shuyuan won the silver medal at the World Championships. In that era, such achievements were very hard-won.

She recalled that at that time, it was "migratory bird skating": "In order to extend the time of skating, Bei'an County froze ice early, Heihe frozen ice early, we were like migratory birds, we could skate a month earlier and practice for a month", where the first cold will go first, where the cold really can't stand it, and then to the next stop. It is under such difficult conditions that China's first generation of ice and snow athletes have still achieved excellent results.

Wang Jinyu

Bronze medal in the 1500 m at the 1962 Speed Skating World Championships

Wang Jinyu broke the men's speed skating all-around record at home and abroad many times in the 1960s, and was the first generation of speed skaters to emerge in the world competition and win glory for China.

"Chinese what the hell is going on, see you on the ice rink, aren't you?" Fight for Chinese! ”

Elder Wang recalled that when he was training, the sky was bright, and he went to find wild ice with an ice knife. "Look where there are ditches, freeze the ice earlier in the morning, go up there and slide first." As teammates 60 years ago, Wang Jinyu and Luo Zhihuan still remember the interesting things about that year's training. Luo Lao even slid over the ice floes and fell into it; and the clever Wang Jinyu observed from the side, "If he slides well, I will go down, and if he doesn't slide well, I won't go down", and he didn't fall into the ice once.

The first generation of speed skaters trained in winter, and the conditions were very difficult. Wang Jinyu's hand was frozen in the friendly match between Harbin and Japan, and the gloves could not be taken off, and finally it could be straightened out with scissors. Now when it's cold, his hands still tingle. Elder Wang said without complaint or regret, "At that time, there was a faith. It is not easy for the country to cultivate us, how do we repay the country, worthy of the country and the people, is not, this is our purpose. ”
