In the middle of winter, walking into the Liu Guanwei Art Exhibition Hall of Tangshan Ceramic Culture and Creativity Center, it is like walking into a garden full of spring. "Spring breeze first in the garden plum, cherry apricot peach pear second opening", porcelain plate, porcelain bottle, bamboo shadow swaying, lotus jade standing, wisteria blooming, plum blossom incense. Light birds roost and play among the flowers, and between the static movements, the breath of spring comes to the face. The person who retains this beautiful scenery of a hundred flowers is Liu Guanwei, a member of the China Artists Association and a master of Chinese ceramic art.
Speaking of getting along with ceramics, Liu Guanwei, 76 years old this year, told him. He said that he loved painting since he was a child, began to formally learn painting at the age of 17, and was trained by the famous painter Mr. Xuan Daoping in his early years, and later entered the Chinese Painting Department of Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts for further study, where he studied under Mr. Sun Qifeng, Xiao Lang, Pu Zuo and others specializing in flower and bird painting.
In 1980, he was assigned to teach at the former Ceramic Technical School and now the Industrial Vocational and Technical College, engaged in the teaching of Chinese painting and painting, and began to combine the local characteristics of Tangshan bone porcelain to study the art of ceramic painting. Compared with southern pottery, northern art ceramics can better reflect the pen and ink charm of Chinese painting, and gradually form the "white porcelain" culture of southern Qingbei white. Over the years, Liu Guanwei has repeatedly studied how to express the techniques of Chinese painting, especially the freehand painting techniques of flowers and birds, on porcelain at will. He has gone deep into the north and south of the river several times to sketch and collect styles, emphasizing tradition, teacher creation, deliberately seeking new changes, and repeatedly pondering practice.
Liu Guanwei worshiped nature as a teacher, he went to many places to collect wind, depicted and outlined the blooming lotus flowers, residual lotuses, etc., pondered the technical innovation of freehand ink lotus, and generally poured the lotus leaf first and then outlined the veins of the method, the opposite way, giving the lotus leaf a sense of movement, making the picture more tense and spiritual. He writes the rattan with a calligraphic pen, and presents its thick and thin winding state with dry and wet pen and ink, highlighting the beauty of the composition of the vines, so that the vines and flowers in the picture echo and are fascinating.
After repeated practice, Liu Guanwei summed up the new glaze techniques such as "splashing method", "oil laying point writing method", "paving color hook method", etc., and freely smeared the broad brush of Chinese freehand painting on the smooth glaze surface, and after roasting, there was both the ink on the chinese painting rice paper, the vigorous and thick brush and ink charm, and the best effect of the glaze color on the porcelain, crystal clear and dazzling glaze, forming his distinctive and unique artistic porcelain style.
Over the past 50 years, mr. Liu Guanwei, who has been working hard and insisting on teaching in the school, continues to cultivate a living force for the Tangshan art circle, and many of the students he has brought out over the years have become leaders in the two fields of Tangshan calligraphy and painting and pottery. In recent years, the Jidong Calligraphy and Painting Art Museum has also opened the "Liu Guanwei Flower and Bird Painting Advanced Study Class", Liu Guanwei personally guided the students who have a certain foundation in flower and bird painting, and taught his unique understanding and techniques of painting and ceramic art to the students without reservation, and his wish is to let Tangshan art porcelain bloom forever and rejuvenate the vitality of spring.
