TA: While Aubameyang cuts salaries, Arsenal will share salaries with Barca until this summer

Aubameyang previously joined Barca, and The Athletic analyzed Aubameyang's salary payment problems.

The Times said the Gunners paid Aubameyang £7 million, while Athenic believes the Gunners' £27 million savings are just an estimate, based on the player's £350,000 per week salary, which could be saved if Arsenal could have removed his salary entirely from his salary bill. Of course, such an outcome is never particularly likely, especially given Barca's financial situation.

Athletic said Arsenal would pay Aubameyang's salary until the summer in installments rather than a one-time payment, while Barca would pay a percentage of the fee, while the players agreed to sacrifice some of their potential earnings.

Athletic reported that it was unclear what the specific agreement between the three parties was. Starting this summer, Aubameyang's earnings will be solely responsible for Barca, and the contract will last until 2025 (there will be a suspension clause in 2023). While barca's fees will increase by then, his total income will be lower than at Arsenal.
