In January 2021, she participated in the World Extreme Games for the first time, winning gold medals in both U-shaped track skills and slope obstacle courses, and bronze in the big jump event. Two months later, at the Freestyle Ski World Championships, Gu Ailing played with injuries and "copied" the record of two golds and one bronze at the World Extreme Games.

U-shaped venue skills are Gu Ailing's most powerful projects. This season, she won all the races of the World Cup U-Shaped Venue and won the crystal ball award for the first season championship of her career. In Gu Ailing's view, the big jump is her weakest sport, but in early December 2021, she became the first female athlete in the world to complete the 1440-degree action of the two-week flip body in the competition, and won her first big jump World Cup champion. It is worth mentioning that to learn this set of difficult moves, Gu Ailing only took 3 weeks.
